Yes, I am putting hardwear cloth on the floor of the run. The run will be brand new and is cheaper as the box got wet. I might have to make a new door but we'll see.
Are these 2 pullets? I don't know their age, but they are starting to sound like hens... ish. When I pulled back their feathers on their heads their combs were flat. Please ignore the salmon faverolle, she wanted to be in the pic. Ill get a better one later if needed.
Great, they were bought as pullets, but I was just double checking, they're not very friendly now but they will be. Now I just have to wait to tell if the silkies are actually pullets!
Yesterday I got 4 salmon faverolle pullets, the owner said they were 10 weeks old, I feel they are older, they are much bigger than my 8 week old chick and are already getting pink combs, also my buff orpington pullets are 10 weeks old and still have a small bit of chick down. Any ideas on what...
Everyone has those days when the hens randomly get bored and decide to chase each other and are a bit of a pain in the... well u know what! I think I've cracked the code. I got long willow sticks with loads of leaves and stuck them in the ground and the girls went crazy for them! They're really...
My girls can be mean one day and be nice another day. So Dove hatched out 1 Chick, Sesame. They both are terrified of Speckles who was at the bottom of the pecking order. Speckles is taking advantage of the mama and baby so they run and scream even if Speckles just walks past. Then Dove hates...
Big Red has died this morning. I was able to give her the medication, but it wasn't working. When she was still alive when I picked her up, I could feel fluid underneath her. Maybe that was the cause... I'm happier that she died as she was. I'm so much pain. From now on, my flock will get...
I've had her around a year and a half. She doesn't have lice and I don't believe she had been dustbathing before this. I got diatomaceous earth and will put it in their dust baths. I really don't think poor Big Red will make it through the night. She is lying down in the nestbox and isn't moving...
She's had it since last Saturday. It's actually a liquid the vet prescribed. It's called micostatin. 1.5ml three times a day. Her background wasn't great before i got her. She was in a battery farm, and then her whole flock was killed by a fox. Then i got her after that. Maybe it's stress from...
My 2 or 3 year old hen has sour crop. I rang the vet and they said to get tablets in the pharmacy. I'm getting them tomorrow. I'm worried she won't survive till then, what can I do? I could give her electrolytes... apple cider vinegar? Is there anything I can do to make sure she survives to get...
