Thank you, I started with 2 Polish, one died of mites a year ago after we had some bad flooding in the area. I agree, they are beautiful birds but I am learning not meant to be in my yard unless I want to put in extra care for them.
We'll need another dog to protect our yard, but we have 4 more...
Our yard is fenced but I guess a canine could sneak in if it really wanted to. The chickens have been free ranging for a few years so this is all new to me. I guess I didn't think anything would happen because they were okay for so long. I will think of a new schedule for them when I'm home from...
Thats a shame. She just had 2 babies so I hope the younger one doesn't get the pouf in that case. The older one doesn't have it. Polish are special breeds, it sucks that makes them easier targets. We're thinking it was a hawk too so I will lock the chickens up for a few days.

Could be that too. I had her in a brooder pen for a few months with the others, I even added 2 chicks that were 2 weeks under. I'm not sure because the others integrated fine but i can see her not because of being raised with a different flock originally.
*She also is able to roost at night...
She's been with us since about 7 or 8 weeks old. I'm not sure if she was vaccinated. The hobble was since we had her so I suspect from birth but I'm not 100% sure. My sister in law's flock is ultimately healthy and mine have been healthy also. She hides mostly under our heat pump or the coop and...
