Thank you, I started with 2 Polish, one died of mites a year ago after we had some bad flooding in the area. I agree, they are beautiful birds but I am learning not meant to be in my yard unless I want to put in extra care for them. We'll need another dog to protect our yard, but we have 4 more...

    *graphic pictures. What did this?

Our yard is fenced but I guess a canine could sneak in if it really wanted to. The chickens have been free ranging for a few years so this is all new to me. I guess I didn't think anything would happen because they were okay for so long. I will think of a new schedule for them when I'm home from...

Thats a shame. She just had 2 babies so I hope the younger one doesn't get the pouf in that case. The older one doesn't have it. Polish are special breeds, it sucks that makes them easier targets. We're thinking it was a hawk too so I will lock the chickens up for a few days.

I came home from work to a giant radius of feathers and the last from my first group chickens is missing skin on the chest and her head is ripped off but not eaten. Also, thigh meat was eaten. The rest were hiding in some tall weeds by the house. After they saw me they were squawking back and...

    Anyone have a slow chicken?

I think she's getting used to us more and more each day. Today she was out with the others during feeding time and usually, I can't find her.

    Anyone have a slow chicken?

That's an interesting way to percieve all of this. I think she sticks by the rooster due to feeling vulnerable also. Maybe Cr. Legbars also like hiding due to breeding? And I think Willow may be similar to Lisa with the slow. I want to record her egg song one day.

    Anyone have a slow chicken?

Could be that too. I had her in a brooder pen for a few months with the others, I even added 2 chicks that were 2 weeks under. I'm not sure because the others integrated fine but i can see her not because of being raised with a different flock originally. *She also is able to roost at night...

    Anyone have a slow chicken?

She's been with us since about 7 or 8 weeks old. I'm not sure if she was vaccinated. The hobble was since we had her so I suspect from birth but I'm not 100% sure. My sister in law's flock is ultimately healthy and mine have been healthy also. She hides mostly under our heat pump or the coop and...
