I had a mean rooster too. I got lucky and someone took him and he behaved better for her.
I have 2 of his sons now and they have never attacked me. I dont know where I went wrong with him.
I only have 1 and she's starting to lay eggs. She isn't as friendly as I thought she would be. I think my JG and Lakenvelders follow me the most. She is beautiful.
I may not be best of help but i have a 6 week old that I got at 4 weeks old. It was raised indoors until I got it and loved cuddles.
I put it out right away because I'm a novice and don't know anything about ducks. I put it in it's own pen with 2 sources of water and food. The chickens get in...

I like this new thread as I took home a rescue duck 2 weeks ago. It is a 5 week old black crested duck.

I have my 1st question, can male ducks quack at 4 to 6 weeks? It's hard to find information online. It mostly quacks when it see's me in the vicinity but is starting to quack at the chickens more now. Thank you.
I got a rescue yesterday, she's so sweet and is my first duckling. I got her from a coworker and she told me it was a male but after I did some research, I believe she's a female because she's quacking a lot. She is growing her adult feathers so I'm not sure how she'll look as an adult.
