In their little cups and ready to hatch. No pips or chirps but they alllll were dancing around when I put them in the carton.
Yes it's technically a day early. But we all know my history with chicks, all hatching day 18-19 haha. I'm PREPARED this time goshdangdoodleit.
We had whatever that nasty flu that isn't covered by the vaccine is going round. Week 3 and I still have a cough and weird voice. Heart is...well dr. has me repeating the zio monitor.
Kiddos class is SO excited for eggs. Day 19 is Friday but we know my luck with them, they will have the turner...
Hello, kind of back. Was very sick, am now very busy.
Here's the past few days
Hooky nesting in the boxwood
Delft and her eggs, given yesterday.
Delft and her nest, alongside the other nest. She does NOT allow other hens to add to her clutch.
Navys clutch
Broody navy, given eggs yesterday...
Kiddo is battling the flu going around, we're on day 4 now :(
To cheer her up...
6 zombies, 3 olive egger under fibro, 2 olive egger under marans, 1 legbar under fibro. So 10 Riddick babies and 2 CowSpots babies.
Yes she lived her just under a year. Her owner wasn't sure if she was 6 or 7 when she dropped her off. She was wonderful.
Yes! They all learned great manners from her!
Thanks for the support on our loss, everyone. Her kids all got to say goodbye, even Riddick went into the nestboxes to spend a few minutes with her.
Hubby suggested we get a few buff orpingtons this spring, two or three. So her golden legacy can live on.
Rest in peace, Buffy
She slipped into a coma earlier today. After discussing with her original owner, I euthanized her and added her body to dad's woodstove, as is tradition.
Thank you for being such a great Matriarch and doing a wonderful job raising my birds. We all miss you already. She...
I can't incubate eggs until I have a broody to slip the babies under. I shouldn't be encouraging anyone to go broody buuut....babies!!!
Of the 18 eggs I gave away last week, he has 15 developing smoothly and one that might have a blood ring. So exciting!
Mugs
Dutchy boyyyyy
Riddick lost his voice and is crowing like a hooting youngster again. I wonder if it'll go back to the growly crow?
Hooky helping me fill feeders.
Hooky has a bad habit too
It's cornstarch. We both flinched and I cut her beak too far back. I need actual quick-stop powder...Nd a better clipper or maybe a grinder
Not the happiest with the perspective on this one, he's kind of twisted.
Kiddo is doing well for her second day of preschool. She was having a harder time sitting and cooperating but nothing too major.
She loves it! And she did very good waiting her turn and being friendly! I think Fridays are show and tell so maybe I'll snag Dutch or Blackberry for her to show off.
It's online class.
Here's a chicken I doodled on her whiteboard while they were having a "brain break" and watching/dancing to...
Kiddo started school today.
Also Buffy is sleeping in the nestbox. I wonder if she's thinking of going broody? She'd be a wonderful mother...being the flock matriarch and all.
