    "Non-industrial" breeds of chickens should be chosen by the average person who wants to produce/raise their own eggs or meat. Rhode Island Reds, Leghorns, Easter Eggers, New Hampshire Reds, Plymouth Rocks, plus other regular breeds are better choices for the hobbyist.
