What should I do?
The last batch I hatched had a very lonely chick bacause all of its siblings didn't survive. It would chirp all night regardless of mirrors whatnot.
I also did not have success integrating that lonely chick into the flock. Poor chick gets bullied and tries to sneak out of...
I started incubating eggs last month and 2 hatched a week ago. A week after the incubation started one hen, Saffron, got broody (she has mothered chicks before) so we decided to let Saffron adopt them. We also gave her a couple of eggs just to keep her broody.
The adoption process was...
Can anybody identify this? It’s few other siblings died from yolk sac infection (I believe)
The chick is 6 days old, eating and drinking great, and has lots of strength. It hatched with wry neck but is improving and progressing.
Should I treat this?
The one I’m worried about is the only bantam, which is the last “healthy” one.
I do feel like the baby is just pecking on the food and eating less than they should. Thanks for the suggestion, I’ll make some mash for them as they seem to really like it with yolk :jumpy
Maybe I should start a...
This one does have trouble standing still or walking straight though, but it was pretty active this morning so I guess as it gets older it’ll be fine (?
92 degrees. They don’t seem to huddle together.
No pasty butt. This yellow one does chirp LOUD when it steps into the water. ( Therefore I have changed the waterer into one they can’t get themselves wet)
Still breathing, but according to experience it’s not gonna last.
I think it just got up to drink water but now it’s back.
It looks small cuz it’s a bantam.
I incubated the chicks. 5 hatched out of 13. Three “healthy” ones, one has splayed legs, another has wry neck.
The “healthy” ones have been eating in the start and drinking normal. Then about 2-days old one chick stopped eating/drinking and slept a lot in a corner. The next morning the chick...
HELP!!! I have the same problem too. I have lost three so far. They’ve been sleeping a lot before dying.
Eating normal, drinking normal. Then suddenly stop eating and drinking, then they die.
My chick is two days old and I just noticed this morning that it is not walking or sleeping on its feet like the others. It sleeps sitting on its butt, and whenever I try to help it seem to be in a lot of pain. Heels look bruised and swollen. Not eating or drinking.
I had planned to make a...
A little update:
We tried to feed it some porridge just now, it took a few drops of water. It did not struggle or pip like before. Put it back into the brooder and let it rest.
This is our first time incubating goose (I heard that they’re hard to incubate) honestly i feel like we didn’t pay...
