Oh, I'm so excited you agree with what rural mouse said! My heart is so relieved and happy 😁 Lima is adorable, I love her coloring. We have Australops, Plymouth Rocks, and Orpingtons - so this will be a fun change. I also think her name is adorable - Lima 🤗
Now I'll start thinking of names for...
Oh this is exciting!! After our 4 hatchlings we're all roosters, I was really hoping we wouldn't have a repeat! I'd love to be able to keep them all. Thank you for your insight!!
That would be really great - those are two really pretty breeds when I looked them up. I just assumed they'd be black and I like the idea of pretty colors. Our first set of birds that we got were from Ideal. We had a wonderful experience with them. I only did TS because we weren't planning on...
I know I can't tell what gender our chicks are yet - but I'm curious if anyone has any thoughts on their breed? We bought 4 at Tractor Supply that were marked as pullet Olive Eggers. I know this doesn't mean much as far as breed or gender since it was TS. 😅 We hatched some eggs 3 mo back and...
Oh, good to know! I was going to make a gallon and just keep using that to fill their water until it ran out. I'll make it fresh each morning. Hadn't thought of that
I have 4 cute little 2.5-3 wk chicks. Today I noticed that some poop looks like it has red in it. It isn't bright red and I can't tell if it's actually blood. If it is blood, should I assume it's coccidiosis? I'm not sure how they even get that - we have a flock of 2 yr old birds but have never...
Ok, thanks! They have much smaller combs than the other two, so I wasn't sure. Didn't realize they had gender colors for EE. Our only experience is chicks from a hatchery. :)
Really? I didn't realize there was gender specific coloring on Easter eggers! I thought all specifics like that kind of flew out the window with being an EE. Good to know!
These chicks are 9 wks old and I posted earlier (7 wks) and was told all 4 I have are roos. Two are definitely roos, but I wanted to confirm on these other two before I re-home them (can't have roos in my neighborhood).
They're easter eggers. It's only 2 different birds in the images.
Oh goodness that will be awful. It was such an ordeal to hatch these.. trying to rehome 4 roos sounds awful. 😞 Yes, they're all Easter eggers - I was listing their mother's breed in case that was helpful
Our chicks are 6 weeks old today and I think I know their genders, but I want opinions. We hatched 4 chicks with one of our broody Orpingtons.
They're all Easter eggers bc the roo was an Americans. We believe the chicks' moms are:
1. Beatrix: Plymouth Rock (tan/cream egg)
2. Maple: Easter...
Here are some more pictures - she was dusty from dust bathing so we rinsed the area to be able to see it better. She is still wet in these photos.
We have two pics of the spot above her tail and one of her from behind - which isn't necessarily an area we were concerned about. Just looks like...
I'm trying to find out if something is wrong with our mama bird. She hatched chicks 3 weeks ago today and has been an excellent mama. She used to sleep in the elevated coop, but has been ground level under the coop in a wire crate the last 5 weeks or so. She is an Orpington and is on a 20%...
I need advice. We have 9 chickens and have had them for 2.5 years. They all grew up together and have had no issues that entire time, very peaceful flock. We went out of town this past Sunday-Wednesday. They were let out for a few hours Sunday morning and were let out Wednesday at 3pm when we...
Thank you!! This helps ease my mind so much..I kept waffling about bringing them all into the garage, but I'd rather they stay out with all the birds for a smoother and simpler integration
