I would guess possibly cockerel, because Clover has small wattle, while none of the others do. I have a cochin roo, and his wattles were the main indicator for me. I'm not 100% sure though, Clover just looks more rooster-y than the others.
The second chick, the brown one with the black details on her tail, looks just like my easter egger, but without muffs. The last chick is definitely a rooster, judging from his large comb, and he looks like an easter egger as well. Not sure about the other two, but they don't look like roosters.
I got some mystery chicks and I don’t know what breeds they are. They’re all standard size and I got them from a hatchery. They’re all 4 weeks old. Would anyone like to take a guess?
1. There’s two that look like this. They’re both big and they’ve got fluffy feet.
2. The only guess I’ve got for...
Unfortunately Bert passed yesterday. She wasn’t able to eat so I was feeding her, but she’d poop it out almost immediately. She seemed better yesterday, but then I found her dead in her cage. There was dirt everywhere so I think she had a seizure and broke her neck against the bars of the cage...
I want to give her an antibiotic in case she does have an infection. I don’t have access to a vet, but I saw that some people use cipro. I can’t find the dosage for it. Have you ever used it? Or do you happen to know the dosage?
Her crop is squishy like it’s full of water. I don’t think her eggs have been thin shelled, but she lays really large eggs. I’ll get her some calcium today. I used aquasol to deworm them. Should I put any supplements like electrolytes in her water? Thanks for the advice!
So on Sunday I noticed that my hen was lethargic. She was perfectly fine Saturday, but something changed on Sunday. She’s a 1 year and 5 month old red sex link. I’m fairly sure that she laid on Sunday, and I put her in a dog crate so I could keep an eye on her.
I noticed that she wasn’t eating...
Today I noticed that my Brahma hen had this big dark scab/callus thing on one of her feet. I’m pretty sure it’s bumblefoot but I don’t want to do surgery if I don’t have to, and there’s not really a scab like I’ve seen in photos of bumblefoot. She’s also currently broody and doesn’t come out of...
Thank you for responding! I separated her already and took her food and water. How much apple cider vinegar should I give her? Is there a specific amount or should I just guess?
For the last few days, my 1 year old red sex link hen has had a large crop. I thought it was impacted crop, but when I felt two days ago, it was squishy. I felt it yesterday, and it was hard again. I’ve never had any problems like this, and I don’t know if it’s impacted or sour crop. I just went...
