My chickens are obsessed with eating my fig leaves. I have to sit and watch them so I can shoo them away, they are relentless with my 2 fig trees. I never witnessed any of my girls get sick from eating some of the leaves but I still won't allow them to eat any, they would eat every single leaf...
I recently hatched 3 chicks. I crossed Easter Egger hens with a solid black frizzled bantam cochin rooster (my girls are regular sized and my roo is short). The babies are 4 weeks old, one is a female who has solid black feathers, black eyes, black mohawk, black beak, dark gray feathered legs...
My silkie bantam x started acting like this one day. I thought she was possibly egg bound as she was a new layer, less than a year old. So I gave her a warm Epsom salt bath for 20 minutes and then dried her off, gave her food and water but she wouldn't eat. She did exactly as you described...
I just got this chicken. I was told it's a 4 month old pullet. What breed is she? I'm thinking maybe a Polish? She's so soft with a fluffy tail and feathered feet. She's very friendly and mild tempered, a little bit shy. My other hens run her off a little and she doesn't fight back at all. She's...
She's been isolated for almost 2 weeks and she stays in overnight. She's unable to nest in there, only roost but she chooses to loaf on the ground. I try to let her out twice a day with supervision but she immediately resumes to bullying and aggressively mounting.
I currently have an almost 2 year old hen (backyard mix) that has gone broody and acting aggressively like a rooster towards the my other hens (Easter Eggers), under a year old. She's even trying to attack my four 2 month old babies (2 frizzled bantam cochin cockerels,1 red sex link pullet and 1...
Oh I'm sorry, I forgot I did take some recent pics. Here are some from last week when they were 3 weeks old. The first 2 pics are one and the other 2 are the other one. Any ideas on their breeds? They are now about 4 weeks old.
Ok, knowing the light ones are most likely females is good news but oh it makes me sad to think both frizzles are cockerels, I was afraid to admit that's exactly what I was thinking so far. I was really hoping at least one of them would be a female. Do you have any idea how well they could do if...
I have four 3 1/2 week old chicks that I purchased from my local Atwoods. The bins weren't marked with breeds. I've been told different breeds when I've asked. The two black chicks are frizzled bantam cochins I'm almost positive on that those but the other two chicks I'm not sure at all. I'll...
Thank you so much for that tip because it did cross my mind to breed them if they turn out to be a male and female and they are both frizzles. I would have never known not too, so I really appreciate you for informing me!
Yeah, that one is smaller than the other one and being dark it's hard to get good pics. It has tiny little feathers that look like they will flair out too.
