She's not sneezing, and the harder breathing comes and goes and it usually does (mostly appears in the morning). Her eyes are still slightly red-ish. But I went through my gallery and noticed most pictures of my ducks have them with slightly red-ish eyes. Overall I don't think there's anything...
I have one duck, who has a history of respiratory issues. These past few days it's been very cold outside (below 0° celsius/32° farhenheit). Two days ago it also rained and my duck started to sneeze and pant slightly, so I brought her in the house for a while where she warmed up and kept...
I am very sorry for your loss.
I think it very much depends on the duck. Patka was a girl so losing her male and her only friend was hard, and she was calling for him a lot the first couple of days (and she still does sometimes). After that however she had a personality change, communicating...
No I don't have any other animals. The neighbourhood cats do hang around all day and Patka likes chasing them if they get too close, but that's about it.
I'll get the mirror and stuffed animal, hopefully it helps her. She seems happy while there's people around but if we go indoors she starts...
Two days ago my male duck Patak (2.5yrs old) died. First his legs got paralysed, we took him to the vet where they gave him everything they could but he unfortunately died an hour later.
I have another duck left, Patka (also 2.5yrs old), who is a female, and she didn't see Patak die. She's a bit...
Police won't do anything even with camera footage.
There is a second fence inside which the ducks are that's 10 meters away from the "outer" wall/fence.
But yeah, unfortunately there's not much I can do to stop it. Has it ever happened that ducks got hurt because of this kinda stuff?
Today some idiot threw a firecracker into my yard. Made a pretty big boom and I could see the flash through the window.
My two ducks (male and female) got very scared and ran under their pen. After the female duck was shaking (something that had happened before, not due to loud noises though). I...
Sorry for the delay, had a busy day yesterday.
The duck is now perfectly fine and is breathing like normal.
I'll look further into the antibiotics and what I can get, but there doesn't seem to be much of a need atm.
Thanks to everyone for the help, I really appriciate all of it!
Seems like that site I posted (the only one I can find) doesn't have anything mentioned in that article you posted. I'll look further into it tommorrow as it's getting late. I'll keep you posted!
I did give them warm water to wash their face.
As for the fish antibotics, I did find some that are apparently supposed to be put into the tank water. I'm not sure that would work. Here's the link, as you know more about this than I do.
Overnight update
I just went outside, and when I opened the coop both of them were standing up. The male duck went back to laying down but the female duck (who is having issue breathing) did not. Whether I woke them up or not, I'm not sure.
The breathing is now pretty bad, just like in the...
I'll try to do that, but as I said, here they won't sell you it unless you go to the vet (which'll cost you a couple hundred bucks), and then buy a whole bucket of antibiotics for however much that ends up costing you.
And I'm a bit hesitant to do all of that and stress her (as she's both wild...
Last time this happened I asked for antibiotics, and got told that I would need to get them approved by a vet (who also doesn't know what's going on). Should be noted that it started when she was laying and being around mowed grass and it passed after a few days of her drinking a lot of...
Oops, I deleted that reply because your reply didn't pop up on my screen yet, my bad.
Turns out my mom did check out her neck and crop today, and she says there were no obstructions and that the crop was soft.
Last time this happened I remember her neck and crop being fine.
I just checked, no...
Excuse me, as English is not my first language, but after a quick google search grit is just some hard little object like pebbles that they use to grind food, right?
I don't give them that, but they do forage around lots and I'm guessing get grit in some capacity on their own. I will try to find...
I've had two Pekins for 8 months now (one male, one female).
A few months back the female had very severe trouble breathing, and it eventually stopped after giving them a lot of vitamins (advice that a vet gave, not much duck-related products are available here unfortunately).
A few days ago I...
