Salt is not a good mama…😡

I have numerous bad mommas. Luckily I have 2 incredible roosters that took over raising them. Then I have another one that hatches one egg and abandons the rest even though they are starting to hatch. She is like, nope! One is enough 🤦‍♀️ i do have one, Freya, that mothered her babies for over a...

Need a little feedback on Frostbite plan

Your plan is exactly what you should do. Even when you have a rooster with severe frostbite, never lance a blister or touch the white or black parts. The black will fall off. Just keep an eye out for infection. Keeping him outside is the best or you will have to keep him for a pretty long time...

    Lyonnaise chickens

I think she might be, but if they are to be my mating pair..... we have a younger hmong chicken who believes Camille, the lyonnaise pullet, is her mother. I was planning to keep the two of them together. She has yet to join the other flock. She gets to free range, but she just goes off with her...

    Lyonnaise chickens

Ok. Thank you. I will do that. She is fed all flock because she is in a coop and run with the lyonnaise rooster. I do have oyster shells available for her at all times. Im sure it is part callous from running and part pressure wound. She does not like to walk on it. She usually hangs out in the...

    Lyonnaise chickens

When looking at her today it seem like the back toe is infected. There was no outward signs of infection when she started limping. She also has the callous and the next joint. It looks a little yellow around it too. So treatment? I have experience with removing infection from bumble foot. I had...

    Lyonnaise Chickens

I have 2 lyonnaise chickens. I am trying to increase their numbers. I have a rooster and I believe the other is a pullet. No eggs yet, but all signs read pullet. The pullet has hurt her leg doing normal chicken things I am guessing. I am looking for another female or more in case.

    Lyonnaise chickens

His comb is the same as the one you have pictured. I'm having issues as well. I am almost 95% sure I have a male and female. She just hasn't laid yet. He does mate her. Problem...she hurt her leg. I have no idea how. I opened the coop one day to let them out and she is limping so bad. It seems...

    Lyonnaise chickens

Oh no! That isn't good! I know I have one cockerel with flat feathers. The other is frizzle and I am praying it is a pullet. If they are I am off and running! I will hopefully be able to get some local farmers and backyard chicken lovers to help conserve the breed. I bought them from a farm in...

    Lyonnaise chickens

I recently purchased 2 juvenile lyonnaise chickens. (I so hope I have a male and female). I was wondering if anyone else had this breed. I only know of one farm that has them. They are pretty rare in the US. I would like to change that. My chickens are pets. But if this works out I will try to...

ISO Silver Hmong pullet or hen.

I'm looking for a silver hmong pullet or hen. I attached a picture for reference. The picture is NOT one of my chickens. I already have a black hmong cockerel. I would like to have a breeding pair. Thank you for your time.

    Any Lyonnaise owners out there?

I have 2 juvenile lyonnaise. Not sure of the sex yet. One is frizzled and one is flat. Like alot of lyonnaise, they have different combs. So that isn't much help at the moment. I am really hoping for a mating pair so I can help conserve this breed.
