Alright time for 7 week old updates.
So chick one, still growing a touch of copper on the neck but no where else and it seems the comb isn’t getting any redder. Chick one is also a friendly, giant who isn’t fighting like the other 6 or 7 roosters in my brood of 10 haha.
Chick two on the...
Most of these splash guys are cockerels, though it’s hard to tell them apart. Unless hens start getting aggressive at 7 weeks. At least 3 of them are the meanest of the brood of 10 chicks. 2 have red combs with extra pea comb side bumps coming in.
Below are the 2 that are questionably female...
It seems at 5 weeks they are starting to grow waddles, the combs are growing, and one has some copper colors on his neck now.
I think it's safe to say I have 2 cockerels here.
I'll definitely post updates. I will try and get a picture of moms legs. They look more white than slate but compared to my white Leghorns they are more tinted grey than pinkish.
One or two of the babies look like they maybe have the same slightly grey color but none of them are even close to...

Dad has slate legs and mom has white. All the babies have white legs. So it seems I may have 4 of 4 cockerels.... but I'm a bit suspicious... that maybe the splash dilution is washing out the color of...
So I've seen lots of photos now of 4 week old BCM roos with huge red combs but I've also seen many females with next to no comb. These are my only two BCM chicks and they seem to be on the gender fence. They arent super big or small body size. No copper color in any feathers so far.
Chick #1...
Mine is at a similar place! Seems could go either way still. Some roos have super red combs at 4 weeks and some females have next to none but yours is on the fence like mine
I wouldnt say he is molting but last year he had a full green head, it's only this year he is striped. He is pretty big bodied too. Are Welsh's usually a bit on the smaller side?
'Big Duck' here is a couple years old, he used to only have a green head but now has the cool racing stripes. Also any help identifying the female breeds too would be cool. I'm thinking they are pekin mixes... mystery ducks!
