    Beak injury?

Any spot where they are able to get their heads through anything, unless they're rubbing it weird on some part of their run's hardware cloth. I'll check for sharp edges. They were confined to their run for a week while we were gone on vacation vs. They normally free range. so maybe there is...

    Beak injury?

Two of my hens have this spot on their beaks, like they've rubbed it raw on top or something? This one has some rubbing on the tip too, like its been rubbed blunt on the top beak instead of more pointed. The other two don't. Could they be pecking at each other? This is a new one for me. Should I...

Cut on foot - advice please

I just noticed this today, looks like it was from a shallow cut thats started healing, it isn't bleeding. Should I put some antibiotics on it covered with Vaseline? I'm worried my other hens may start pecking it. Hen is acting, walking completely normally.

Something caught in throat or respiratory illness?

She was shaking her head a bit last night, yes. Today she seems to be straining less and is a bit louder but still quiet. I'll go pick up a watermelon.

Something caught in throat or respiratory illness?

Please weigh in! I just noticed her acting like this today. She is not honking, just making a small sound if you get really close. Its hard to describe. She's locked up for the night though. Will see how she is in the morning. I put a link to a video showing her, I don't know how to upload a...

    Boys or girls?

Golden lacy wyandotte and a RIR. They're 9 or 10 weeks based on how old I guessed they were when I picked them up at the feed store.

    5 days no egg

Hi, I have a year old WH that has been laying consistently since March, so around 140 eggs this year. She's looking pretty scrappy, her feathers are no longer really smooth and soft like my 5 mo olds. She preens fine. She lost her best friend four weeks ago and has had the stress of...

    Are my hens actually drakes?!

She's very unique looking though, it's cool! Maybe her bill will change over time and with laying onset, who knows? And yes my drake is very beautiful, his bro got rehomed so he's got his own harem now but the one that remains is picking on my almost 1 yr old laying female who just lost her...

    Are my hens actually drakes?!

Not sure if you're responding to me or not. But yeah the Saxony and magpie were never in question, just the grey headed male Welsh harlequin. They definitely both ended up being drakes lol I know how to tell the difference now from about 5-6weeks. Lol. Here is one now

    Are my hens actually drakes?!

Definitely sounds hen to me. Not sure why her bill is so light though. How does she look now?

    Are my hens actually drakes?!

This I definitely call a WH hen tail. Sorry it took me so long to respond! I don't know why my notifications didn't alert me to a response

    Are my hens actually drakes?!

Post a picture of the tail, I should be able to tell then. By bill and feet color I'd say yours is a drake. But tail feather pattern should confirm

    Are my hens actually drakes?!

Here's my females from last year at 5 weeks. You can see the difference in the male and female tale pattern clearly here. Edited to add, their bills were also very dark by this age

    Are my hens actually drakes?!

Here's a picture of my WH drakes at 5 weeks. The green circle spot is the half moon/scallop tail pattern I'm referring too

    Are my hens actually drakes?!

I ordered from Metzers. Look at the feathers coming in on the tail, thats makes it easier to tell. The scalloped pattern half moon of the tail feathers is tell-tale. I'd be a little skeptical if I were you as well, normally their bills and feet darken a lot if female

Anyone know what type of wormy this is?

It could have just crawled in there, that is also a possibility.
