Hey BYC. I’m trying to see what, if anything, can I do to help new born baby chic to survive.
Today, when we went to the barn to do our daily routine of checking, cleaning, etc., we found a new born chic under our spectacled Sussex (“Spectacles/Specs”). Specs has been in her nesting box for...
He was given to us, but, I think he’s between 1yr to 2 yrs old. Yep, he crows beautifully! His breathing is normal. He doesn’t sneeze, have a cough or sound congested.
Hi BYC family! Macho, our rooster, makes this weird ‘guttural’ sound. Sometimes, he makes it while hiding behind something at other times he is simply standing out in the chicken yard. He lives with 15 girls in a barn within a fenced-in area of about 1/3 to 1/2 acres. Fencing is over 6ft tall...

I've read about shrink wrapping, unfortunately though, we had to get the 2nd new chic out. I increased the humidity and am keeping watch. Thank you for the providing the link to the assisted hatching info. I will gather my supplies and be ready. Thank you so very much!!

The coupe is actually a mid-sized barn sitting on about a 1/3 to 1/2 acre enclosed by a fence. We have about 18 birds. We feed them Nutrena NatureWise 16% (18% protein when they are molting). For treats, we feed Producer's Pride Scratch Grains mixed with crushed up eggshells as well as veggies...
Hello everyone! I could use some advice…one of the girls is losing her feathers. It started as a small spot and now it has grown. At first, thinking she was molting we increased the amount of protein we were giving, but, this is not working. Then, my husband reminded me that they molted back in...
My apologies for the not responding sooner, have a lot on our plates right now. Thank you all so much for the feedback and advice!! I feel much better now. Glad to know he can a quality life without his toes as long as no infection or other disease crop up. We thought searched for prosthetics...
