Thank you coach723. The spinning or scooting around in circles is when she's laying down in crate. Sorry that wasn't clear. In sling she is touching just enough to make flat foot with a little pressure on right it if she wants. Left still not doing much. Today she was putting a bit of pressure...

Thank you for res Thank you for responding Wyorp Rock. I appreciate you giving me a little more clarification. I've slipped the b complex and vitamin e into a treat of homemade canned tuna. Like the puppy pads trick when she's moving around in circles her body keeps her poop off the wounds...

And her feathers have been clipped away on back to clear off of wound. Her left back is pretty bald. Only her wings cover it. Should I go no additional warmth if 50-60degrees in bathroom and no feathers on left/back?

BigBlueHen53 I did make her a sling with vent hole (pictured in post), but it was my understanding that she has to build up to the amount of time using it. Any advice on sling vs laying on ground time? Also her left side back is damaged all the way down to where the hole in sling starts, so I'm...

I also gave her a half baby aspirin this afternoon because she has been shaking and more vocal when I am moving her to treat wounds. I was worried initially not wanting to have internal bleeding. I will only give a couple days if she's still seams in pain. Without vet, I don't know how to get...

Chicken attacked by dog last week, questions about leg mobility and poop. No vet in area. Graphic photos

My dog attacked one hen 6 days ago due to my adult son accidentally leaving coop door open and not fully closing gate when 'chicken sitting'. We thought she was dead, but she was breathing and eyes open. This forum gave me hope in nursing her to health. We do not have a vet in the area...

Thank you Debbie292d. I'm hoping, like with a human teenager, we'll get through this on the other side of the hormone surge🤣

How to deal with aggressive Silkie rooster?

Thank you Debbie292. To clarify, how do you "scold" your rooster? I only yell when he's in process of attacking and don't kick, but if he's on my pant leg i swing it to get him off. I speak nice and talk to him while he's acting normal. I also have a pitcher or egg carton in a hand in front...

How to deal with aggressive Silkie rooster?

Please excuse that this is long to avoid unnecessary questions ahead of time. This is my first flock. One of my black Silkie roosters started attacking me occasionally 3 weeks ago. Pic is of him 2 months ago. I have 16 hens (of 8 different breeds) and 2 black Silkie roosters all 6 months old...

15 week Black Silkies. Pullets or cockrels?

I was leaning that way too. We're out in the country far from neighbors, so hopefully they're not obnoxious crowers. All the other chickens definitely appear to be pullets. As long as they keep their manners with the hens they'll have a home with us.

15 week Black Silkies. Pullets or cockrels?

I have 2 15 week old Black silkies, Jellybean and Snickerdoodle. Jellybean has less poof and feather length on head and neck and Snickerdoodle is developing waddles. Both developing ok size crowns. No red/purple coloration on crown or waddles. No crowing yet. No big streamers that I see. Both...

Should I worry about 3/4" roof gaps?

I'm finally at the end of a long coop build and appreciate all the info on this site. I will paint exterior after the girls are in the coop since hubby and I haven't found a color we agree on 🤣 I have sections that are 3/4" x 20" that are open (there are 8). Is it worth putting a 1x board in...

    Ventilation for new coop

Ridgerunner, the roof rafters are hung like a home with metal rafter hanger brackets and 'ladders' with 2x4s were also added after pictures to support and secure the angled sides. We finished off the roof with metal trim today also, so the roof ridges don't provide ventilation. Sorry that wasn't...
