They had multiple treatments from the vet, but nothing fixed the. I think he said my rooster had something like meningitis, and my hen had leukaemia. Since they were my first chickens it was hard, but I'd rather they were out of pain than keep taking them for shots.
Hope you had a great...
I hope you're able to sort him out. Sadly I lost my rooster (and a hen) who had balance issues. Concerned about my youngest rooster as he spins, but unfortunately I don't know how to help.
Thank you for this thread. I've just got my first tiny egg. Half yhe weight of my pullets egg. Hoping it's my 'old lady' Mo starting again. We shall see. 😁
Think cocky teenage boys that think they're the bees knees. I have 2, 6 month olds. Like to watch the girls (they're separated so they can't reach them) but they'll peck at me if I put a hand into their enclosure.
They WON'T be dinner, but I'm hoping they'll improve as they mature.
I'm going to try adding some macadamia nuts to my flocks feed. They have other nuts added daily, but keep calling walnuts macadamia, so googled if they're safe and was brought to this feed, so I'll see how my lot like it.
Update ... saw the vet, who said it wasn't really bumblefoot but a callous, which he removed as we were talking. Then dressed it and said she was fine. (He also gave her a shot of antibiotics)
Two days later she snuck past me before I could remove the dressing, then the next day the dressing...
As I have sight problems (registered blind) I won't be trying the surgical method myself. My local vet is a farm vet, but he also has chickens himself so I feel quite sure he can sort it ... more safely than I.
Thank you for this information, as now I have an idea what I'm looking at, and now...
Thought I'd update this ... Out of the 9 eggs, I got 4, 3 boys and one girl. My girl has started laying and thinks she's 'the bees knees', at least till the older girls correct her. Of the three boys we still have 2, who both now crow in the morning. They are separated from the girls, but they...
Also having an issue with one of my girls. Who coincidentally also lays blue eggs. She's moulting currently, so not laying, but I think I'm going to take her to the vets and get her checked out.
Thank you for this thread. I've noticed my youngest boy spin the last couple of days, but a bit faster as though a little dizzy, but when he stops it's like nothing has happened. Since I've only seen him doing it a couple of times I thought I'd keep an eye on him, but see what anyone on here...
Fortunately, no sparring today. There'll just be boys watching girls go to bed, and then trying to avoid going to bed themselves while trying to watch the visiting rat(s).
He's the youngest of my two cockerels and she is usually one of the top couple of hens. Not sure, but think she's gone down the order since she started molting. Normally she wouldn't acknowledge him, nor he her, but he's also coming into his voice too. Guess he's hit puberty. Not sure I could...
