We buried the chick, by our garden, and placed a tulip on her grave. Thank y'all so much for all the help! we named her Freddie (i really don't know why :') ) and hopefully none of her siblings contract whatever happened to her...
she was under a heat lamp for hours, and i gave her plenty of egg yolk/water, but nothing like that seemed to help. im afraid she may already be dead...
UPDATE:
this morning the chick is still not stiff :/ she hasn't moved, and her eyes are a bit sunken in this morning, but she still isn't that cold either. i'm positive she's dead, but without her being cold/stiff i'm not sure if i should bury her... My worst fear is burying a chick or any...
when i bought her from the store, she along with her sibling (who is extremely healthy and playful) both had pasty butt. i cleaned them off, and she improved a lot, eating and drinking. i fell asleep, and when i woke up she was dead/in a coma. i really have never seen anything like this, and...
i removed her from the heat after i found her, yet after five hours she was still warm! it seems she is producing her own heat.
when i found her, she hadn't been dead long (if she's even dead) so i dont think the stiffness would have had time to go away by then.
I believe she is on the brink...
this was my exact thinking, that the heat lamp was keeping her warm, so i removed her from the heat to see if she would become cold. after about 4-5 hours out of the heat, she was still rather warm, so i really don't know what to think. i put her back under the heat after like 5 hours, just in...
She's decently warm, slightly cold feet, but other than that she seems to be producing body heat. i just don't want to bury her alive. just thinking about that makes me upset. she's twitched a couple times, but i know after death that nerves do weird things, so i'm not sure what to do... she's...
Thank you for replying. :') I assumed she had been knocked out or trampled before i bought her, so i separated her from the other chicks i bought. i'm just confused on why she isn't stiff and is still warm. But still, any info on what this might be is helpful, so thank you!
i hope someone who can help sees this, because if she is still alive, i doubt she'll be able to make it through the night without help :'( i forgot to mention this, but she's so small and fragile that attempting to feel for a heartbeat/pulse is impossible, as my hand isn't steady enough to feel...
Just yesterday I got a new batch of chicks for our flock, and in one of the chick enclosures was a very sick little chick. i bought it hoping to help, and it was doing ok! she drank drops of water and ate some food, then went to bed. her head was a bit wobbly, but she was alert and seemed to be...
