Update! Had 4 of the 5 hatch! One had pipped but did not zipped. Waited 24 hrs and checked him. He didn't make it.😢 These are the sweet little peeps that made it!❤️
One of my muscovy eggs has pipped but not zipped after 24 hrs. There is a break on the small side of egg. I can see his beak in the air sack but can't tell if he's resting. If he's moving it's only the tiniest bit. What do I do? 4 have hatched successfully. Worried about this little guy...
Good news! I have a bouncing baby myscovy duckling! The other 4 are zipping & won't be long before hatching. My stress level has decreased dramatically!
Today is day 36 & I have 3 zips! One zipped last night & 2 today. The other 2 eggs are still moving but not zipped yet. Slow process. Come on baby ducks!
I definitely will! My stray Muscovy "Miss Tilly" is on her 3rd clutch. She took them directly to the pond and both were gone within 3 days. I snitched 6 eggs (5 remaining in the incubator). She's currently sitting on 10-15 eggs for about 18 days now. I know they won't survive. I candled...
It is day 35! 3 have definitely pipped! Can see their beaks! The other 2 are making progress. Fingers crossed they all 5 make it. This is so exciting and nerve wracking at the same time. Had no clue what I was doing and thankful this forum gave me the insight to at least get to the finish...
Definitely nerve wracking! I did check this morning. 1 egg is rocking (#6). The other 4 are all drawn down & can see movement but not rocking yet. Hard to see without opening the incubator.
It looks like they are moving down on one side. All still have good movement this evening. I did put them in lockdown. Lowered temp to 98.5 and upped humidity to 65-70%.
Today is day 33 for my 5 muscovy eggs. They are trying to pip but don't see their beak yet nor do I hear chirping. I am a COMPLETE novice and don't mind admitting it! I've made it this far and my nerves are shattered. Should I put them in lock down? All are moving. I see shadows where they...
This is day 17 and I'm worried about one of my eggs! I don't see any movement and not sure what I need to be looking for. Here are pics of egg #1 (not moving) and #2-6 are lively! Is there hope?
Congratulations! I have my 1st ever batch of muscovys in the incubator. 6 total and all still surviving at day 17. Totally new to this as I have a stray Muscovy "Miss Tilly". Varmints kept eating her babies so i decided to help her. Guess I'm gonna be a duck Mom!
According to my weights, as mentioned in the above article, they are right on target. Will watch them close the next couple of days to see how they develop.
First time duck Mom is going to get the best of me but I'm trying desperately to get it right! I will update as time progresses...
