I have this hen who is around 1 year old. I found her on the floor unwilling to move and really lethargic. I gave her some water with electrolytes to see if it was dehydration, but when I picked her up she threw up a brown looking liquid that smells like poop. I’m not sure what to do.
I have a chick that’s around 3 weeks old. She broke her toe recently and I tried to wrap it with cardboard but she took it off immediately even though it was helping her walk better. Any other ideas? I tried band aids but they weren’t that great. Would vet wrap work better in this situation? I...
I’m not sure what breed he is because I got him at rural king, but when I bought him I didn’t notice all the extra fingers. Will he be fine when he grows up? I’ve heard of breeds with an extra toe but he has two extra toes in one foot and an extra one in the other.
I was checking up on my chickens today and saw that one of them had a nail falling off and bleeding. The base is still there, but the upper part is kinda hanging. She is bleeding a lot, what do I do?
I’m unsure, it’s probably because those hens had their wings cut (I had no experience with chickens and my dad told me that I had to do it). Now I only have one hen left with her wings cut because they just won’t grow back. This hen is the one who got bumble foot, and I’m sure it was the...
I currently have straw for my coop floor but I’ve been wanting to go back to pine shavings. I used to buy the pine shavings from tractor supply, but it didn’t go well because my chickens were getting it stuck in their feet and getting bumble foot. I have no idea how, but it’s probably due to how...
Actually, here’s a picture of her recently. Excuse her looking dirty, muddy season and white chickens don’t go well together.
Also, sorry for responding late.
My hens all got o sleep at around 8 (when the sun comes down where I’m at) but this one hen is always in the coop and sleeping at around 7. Does this mean anything bad or does she just enjoy her sleep? Aside from this, she eats and drinks perfectly fine. Always walking around and running even...
She’s doing perfectly fine, it did move a bit more to the side. She is actually pretty high in the pecking order and fatter than all my other hens 😂. She’s just grown to be an odd chicken, she doesn’t act the same as the others. But idk if it’s just because that’s her personality or because of...
I was putting my chickens to sleep today when I noticed that two of them had bloody beaks and one had a bloody crest. I went and separated the one with the bloody crest and brought her inside my house. How can I treat the wound properly? I have a lot of antibiotic creams but nothing chicken related.
Im going to wait until muddy season is over, but it’s because her feathers are getting really hard and nasty with the dried up mud. It’s gotten to the point where her dust baths won’t help. Ty.
I have a 9 month old Americana chicken, she is white. It’s been really muddy lately and she has started to become yellow. What type of shampoos can I use to bathe her? I have Guinea pig shampoo that I could use but if that isn’t safe for her what else can I use?
I have 26 hens and 1 rooster, two of my hens are 2 years old and the rest are about 1 year old. The rooster is also 1 year old.One of the 2 year old ones is extremely dominant, as a matter of fact I think I saw her stepping on a another hen once to show her dominance. The rooster hasn’t been too...
Hoovers hatchery is where they get them from, I did some research and almost all that they sell are breed so much that their chicks are like poodle mixes, some come out great while others end up with a lot of problems. Mutts of the chicken world is what they sell. I am definitely not buying...
