Any problems with chicks via USPS in Southeast?

Thank you for your honesty and experience. My neighbor had 12 delivered, 11 arrived and survived for a day, 2 died overnight. 9 remain. It's not about the money, and I hate pointing fingers. I wish I had the option of overnight delivery but it is not offered. I understand that my next option is...

    I wanna rant!

I cannot fathom trying to find a J O B at my 58 y/o. I had my 6th layoff in 4 years in 2012 and decided to start my own pet sitting business. I relied on the grace of good people as I got started and worked my ssa off! It worked out for me because I am not great at handling pinhead...

Any problems with chicks via USPS in Southeast?

Chicks via the US Postal Service topic is widely covered, but I am wondering if anyone in Georgia (Southeast in general even) ordering chicks from afar are having trouble receiving live birds? 3 recent negative reviews of Meyer Hatchery from Tennessee claim dead and dying chicks, each claiming 3...

Hello! I'm here for the hen party!

Woot woot! Sans finishing touches - like the correct ridge cap and cleaning windows and installing perches... the Funky Chickren Coop is mostly complete. I bled, sweat and nearly cried for sure putting the coop back together. It was given to me, but needed some work. So it is not my design, just...

Hello! I'm here for the hen party!

I had a new washer delivered from Costco and the driver thought I was nuts because I was equally excited about the box it came in. "You see, I'm getting chickens..." I told him. 🙃

Hello! I'm here for the hen party!

Thank you so much for your reply! I have, since posting, acquired a 15'L x 5'W Retriever kennel that I will use as a run. I'm going to build a shed roof over it and make the kennel a hardware cloth fortified sandbox. I have lots of creeping, slithering, flying predators and no cover so the...

    My coop project.

Much like there's no such thing as a free puppy, it's the same for a chicken coop. I am mighty grateful to have it though for sure. These folks lost their hens to predators so they finally gave up on keeping them after 10 years. Broken hearted, they just abandoned it as it was when the last...

    Pavestone Paver Base

My thoughts also. The people did use it with their hens. I would see it caked a little on the hen's feet after a rain. Can't say if it caused harm. I know that crystalline silica is pretty rough on skin and lungs. I think I'll save the paver base for making a patio to watch my happy hens...

    Pavestone Paver Base

I was given a coop, a dog lot run and a couple of bags of Pavestone Paver Base to use in the run on top of the earth floor. I'm not so sure about the paver base. There's a lot of sand (of course) and it comes with a handy "contains silica" warning. Also there are rock chips (of course.) I was...
