    Swollen toe/limping

The bumble is on her other foot and not the side that is causing the limp. We went through bumble with one of our other ducks last summer so we know all the tricks :) thanks though.

    Swollen toe/limping

Sorry for the delay. No it doesn't. We gave her another epsom salt bath yesterday and trimmed her nails. She's still limping around today. It doesn't help that we have a drake that will chase her (and the others) around sometimes. When our bird hospital structure comes in tomorrow we're going...

    Swollen toe/limping

Hello I have a runner who's been limping for a few days that we've noticed has a swollen middle toe. We've had lots of ice here over the past month and have seen the birds have a few slips and are thinking that could have been what caused it. Having said that, we have her stuck in the run now...

    Drakes not getting along

I'll have to give that a shot. Harder to do than normal since we have a bunch of snow here at the moment.

    Drakes not getting along

Hello everyone, We have 11 ducks, 2 of which are drakes (Welsh Harlequin). The drakes and the majority of the other ducks are about 9 months old. Up until a week or so ago the drakes got along great with only the odd chase down. Now we're seeing one of them chase the other away from their water...

    Sudden duckling death?

I'm still a green duck owner so I always under or overestimate their ages. Time flies when you're having fun right!? The other two still seem great. I'll post some pictures when we get them settled in for the night. It's 1 runner and 1 khaki.

    Sudden duckling death?

Hey it's me again. Bad luck these days... I picked up three new ducklings (maybe 8 weeks old or so, still had wing feathers coming in) from someone who has lots of birds and other animals. The conditions there looked fine and all the animals looked happy. We put the three of them in the cage in...

    shakey legs

One of our runners had shaky legs when she was about that age/size. We were using brewer's yeast for niacin which wasn't enough. We switched to niacin pills from the drug store and poured the contents into their pea snack every day. After a little over a week her legs were fine and they no...

    Lethargic Duck

Update: Doesn't look like Marek's because apparently ducks don't tend to get it. She had a big seizure and a few minutes later she passed away. Our best guess is she ate something toxic while free ranging. She started showing oddness early yesterday afternoon and a little over a day later she...

    Lethargic Duck

Update: She's having a rough time keeping her balance and she's fallen over quite a few times while readjusting herself. We moved her inside and she's not drinking or eating at all. We're a little concerned about Marek's but there doesn't seem to be any paralysis. Could be that she ate...

    Lethargic Duck

Unfortunately I don't. However she's no longer wandering or doing anything other than standing/lying down. We moved her into her own little pen outside this morning away from the others. She is finally laying down as I hadn't noticed her doing anything but standing for the last 18 hours. I can...

    Lethargic Duck

Hello! Our 1 year old we purchased off someone a bit over a month ago that we've been treating for bumblefoot has now become lethargic. I don't think the lethargy is due to bumblefoot spreading to her bones/blood since it's not that bad. Yesterday morning she seemed completely fine. She ran out...

    Welsh Harlequin Gender

They are both drakes. One is starting to get his drake feather while the one in the picture still sounds squeaky like a male.

    Severe bumblefoot assistance

Super helpful! Thanks so much. We just brought the girls back outside with the others. I'm sure they'll be much happier tonight :)

Thanks for everything! If you had pictures of the wrap it'd be helpful :)

    Severe bumblefoot assistance

We do need more :) This is probably a dumb question but do you think we'd be able to keep them outside (again, these two don't swim) even if its a bit wet if we were somehow able to do a foot wrap and then have their feet in some sort of bag or bootie? If we have to we can keep them inside, but...

Thanks! Yeah we'll order some Epsom salt poultice tonight.

    Severe bumblefoot assistance

Thanks for all your help. We have the two girls inside for now and their feet are wrapped up to keep them dry and not exposed. Would you suggest we keep them in a pen inside or can they go out in the run with the others while we work out the bumble ? They don't swim so as long as it's not...

    Severe bumblefoot assistance

Only the biggest ones had scabs and I wasn't really able to get anything out. I didn't have a scalpel or exacto knife on hand. We'll pick one up tomorrow and try a proper extraction since that looks necessary. What should we be doing about the smaller ones that don't have scabs?
