    Screen will most likely plug up over time. Ridge vent will flow better. Anything that will act as a chimney effect would be more efficient.

    My coop is always morphing. Started with a 10x10 shed... Then got a "Rugged Ranch" outdoor coop from Family Farm and Home, and made it a 6x8 breezeway on the front to break the weather. Then I found a used "Tartar" brand dog kennel with a roof kit for $200 on local Craigslist.... and attached...

    I have a friend that talked to an older gentleman that raises chickens. The supposed comment was to add another rooster. Take it for what's it's worth. (shrug)

    Sometimes isolation may be needed. I know I had to separate mine a few times. If no rooster, then sometimes an "Alpha" hen will replace a rooster.

    I divided my coop down the middle, and left a "pass through" opening so the more docile chickens can find a spot to "chill"
