Identifying illness help? Worms, vent gleet, something else?

I didn't have enough amoxicillin to do a full course. I did amoxicillin 2x daily for 3.5 days & then did doxycycline 2x daily for another 3.5 days. Last day of doxy was about a week ago. In the meantime, I had some Fish Mox shipped from Canada. Can/should I do another 7 day treatment with the...

Identifying illness help? Worms, vent gleet, something else?

I don't know how, but I missed this comment!! I just commented another update. Yes, she is still eating/drinking. I'm worried the suspected lash material build up may be causing pinched nerves/leg issues. I haven't given her another soak since, but I'm starting to wonder if it's time for another...

Identifying illness help? Worms, vent gleet, something else?

Another update: I still feel like I have no idea what's going on. Her poo seems to have gotten more solid & less alarming. She never laid a lash egg or passed any large blobs of anything. I originally had her on a stool in the bathtub. It usually works great for a chicken hospital. Their poo...

I just put an update down below, but then realized it might not notify y'all of that since I did it as a new comment... sorry, new to this whole *actually posting* thing, I'm usually just a lurker

Identifying illness help? Worms, vent gleet, something else?

Update: She's hanging in there, but not improving. I've been giving her amoxicillin 2x daily as well as calcium carbonate. Yesterday afternoon, I gave her an Epsom salt soak hoping that would help her push the lash egg out (?), but while drying her she seemed to be fading. I thought she was...

Identifying illness help? Worms, vent gleet, something else?

I gave it to her like a pill mixed in some refrigerated coconut oil. My fingers & heartstrings are crossed she pulls through. She’s a tough cookie. Thank you all for your input & especially for helping me so quickly once I fully dove into panic mode. I’m unexplainably grateful for this community.

Identifying illness help? Worms, vent gleet, something else?

I have amoxicillin from when my fiancé had poison ivy. In total, I have 1 whole 875mg tablet, as well as half of an 875mg tablet in powder form. (I ground it up during a previous duck crisis) Mix the powder with water & have her drink it? I have the dosage page bookmarked I think, but not sure...

Identifying illness help? Worms, vent gleet, something else?

Update- she just pooped whatever this is? And this is what she looks like right now. You all have given me fantastic advice, but I’m all over the place and don’t know what to do in this moment right now to save her.

Identifying illness help? Worms, vent gleet, something else?

I will crop check in the morning, thank you for the link! She hasn't laid an egg in so long, I hadn't even considered this. She does have oyster shell with her, but I will give her some calcium here in a second. I'm wondering if I should give her an epsom salt soak as well? Can't believe I...

Identifying illness help? Worms, vent gleet, something else?

She hasn't laid an egg in at least a year. We figured her egg factory was out of business, so I didn't even consider egg binding because of this... I suppose I can't rule it out.

Identifying illness help? Worms, vent gleet, something else?

Sorry, can't believe I didn't mention her behavior! Yes, she is acting sick. She's straining & having a hard time pooping. She'll get fluffy, pull her head in & close her eyes- you can tell she's pushing. She is eating/drinking. I will check her crop in the morning to make sure it's emptied. It...

Identifying illness help? Worms, vent gleet, something else?

Thank you!! I immediately went & scrambled her up an egg. I put what I have of the things you mentioned in her scramble. We are currently snowed in, so going to get anything isn't an option at the moment.. Waiting for it to cool off a bit before giving it to her. I was able to do the thyme...

Identifying illness help? Worms, vent gleet, something else?

Hey everyone. First, I want to thank you all for your contributions to this site. You all have been so helpful to me over the years. I'm currently at a loss on which treatment route to go with my girl, Green. She's a Rhode Island Red, almost 3 years old. She's always sorta had a little bit of a...

Limping duck, I don't know what to do

Update- I just went to TSC! Got the Durvet b complex and the calcium gluconate. I had her isolated in the bathtub like I do when the chickens need medical attention. She flew out twice, landing on her ouchie leg, of course. Once was because I put a mirror with her so she felt less alone… she...

Limping duck, I don't know what to do

I wasn't sure if the two issues are related either & I'm still not sure. She uses her right leg to scratch her head, so definitely not a egg causing paralysis. She does have access to oyster shell free choice 24/7, but I'll get some liquid calcium gluconate to give her as well. Do you think this...

Limping duck, I don't know what to do

About 10 days ago, out of the blue, my 1.5 year old Swedish blue hen started limping & didn't want to put much weight on her right leg. I did a quick bumblefoot inspection & didn't see anything alarming. I've never dealt with bumblefoot before, but after lurking here for a few years, I do think...
