I know this is an old thread, but I have a set up similar to this and I have a few issues that you might could address. . . My plastic bins seem to be bowed up slightly in the middle so that the water doesn't get to the seed in the middle as much as it does the front and sides, so I have it...
I feel like there has to be a better deal than $15-17 for 5 pounds on amazon :)
Dummy me bought rolled oats to try from tractor supply and only grew mold and made a great spot for fruit flies 🙃
I've had good luck with wheat grass in the past, but haven't ever wanted to do it in such...
I've grown wheat grass in water and let it get nice and thick where the roots grow together and it's almost carpet-like. Would oats grow that way? I've seen people talk about throwing oats in the run and watering it and how fast it grows etc., so I wondered if oats would grow like the wheat.
Is it too soon to tell or you're scared to tell me I have a flock full of roos?? :D
They are supposed to be pullets from TC, and the last time I had chickens 5-6 years ago, I had no problems; but I've read here of people getting roosters when they were supposed to all be hens and I'm NERVOUS!
I would love to see pictures of dust baths that you've made! Also any helpful information about what you put in them. I'll be getting mine set up soon :)
My coop has laminate flooring. Should I cover the whole floor with sand, shavings, etc.? Or should I build a little shelf under the roosting bars to catch the bulk?
What have you found is the best way to store feed? I have a little bitty storage room on my coop to store feed in and I want to keep it as secure (from rodents, etc), fresh, and clean as possible.
