This is exactly my question. I am in the second year of this project and starting the 3rd. Chicks have not matured from the splits crossing, but appear to be either chocolate, lavender, or black. Although the lavender and chocolate chick fown has a lot more variationthan than the parent...
Thank you for this! I have a duckling that is one month old and has wry neck. She is eating and drinking fine but is getting worse. At one week, I was opening a brooder door to water and she leaped got past my attempts to block her from jumping and got her head. I thought for sure she'd...
I had this happen with a few of my first hatch this year and it was due to my incubator not feeding humidity right and "low" humidity periods before I realized what was going on. I found the liquid very sticky and biggest concern was it hardening and not allowing the chick to turn. I found...
Ugh! I had the same thing happen last night to over 200 eggs and I was feeling pretty hopeful, until I saw your message none survived 🥺 I'll still leave them a few days and check them. All trays are different stages, but 60 chicks and 15 ducklings just went into lockdown so maybe there's...
I am wondering something similar, but I only have my red golden x red golden. I however have a yellow golden male and a peach golden hen. With both of these being mutations, would the offapring revert to wild type or are the mutations ones that would give offspring of the same mutations...is...
If it makes anyone feel any better, I have 14 roosters and they've been good until this fall and winter. Little has changed other than a couple of the younger ones from last year started the night crowing. Now every hour or so the couple start and get all the different pens answering back and...
I actually lost close to 20 young chickens this summer too two different skunks. Contrary to much of what I read, I've found them to be deadly to young chickens. They didn't kill any full grown birds but two bantam.
The part that is the craziest is that he was just pilling them up like it...
That's kinda my guess too. It was a breeder of pheasant for probably 50 years, but mistakes happen I guess. I'll post updated pics when they are older and feathered.
All the peach chicks I saw hatch were the silver color. I heard peach doesn't always breed true though so thought maybe I mixed up something and they came from the peach eggs. I was pretty positive they were marked LA though.
Well thankfully there were at least 3 that appear to be lady amhurste. I'll see how true their colors look as they mature. The only other possibility on the black chicks is they hatched out of what was supposed to be peach eggs from a different breeder but I'm pretty positive they were marked LA.
I have hatched 13 Red Golden Pheasants this year from my own pair. All have looked very consistent in color. I purchased some lady amhurste hatching eggs and color had been all over the board. Is this normal? Two hatched dark brown to solid black with a little light on the face, no barring, and...
