Im wondering if its mareks but they arent doing the split leg thing.. had over half of my mottled houdans die of mareks last year and it didnt look like these ones do
Would scaly leg mites kill the birds? I have had around 7 birds go sort of paralyzed and die a few days later, one of them had scaly leg mites. Should I just treat the ones that I can see have it, or all the birds? Also should i put vaseline on their legs?
Most of the layers have it, havent had a good look at the older chicks yet. The meat birds are in a different pen right beside the layers. I sell eggs from the layers and I also sell fertilized eggs for hatching.
How do I treat over 200 meat birds and layers for scaly leg mites? It would take forever to soak all of their feet in water and put vaseline on them, and I’m not sure if i can use ivermectin as these are meat birds ready to be butchered in a month or so and layers.
Oh crap i have been keeping the humidity at 25-40% like i usually do.. first time with duck eggs. I hatched over 100 houdan eggs from this hen and rooster last year so it wouldnt be genetics. I did switch the feed tho.. not sure what brand it is. Its just regular layer ration
I staggered the houdan eggs in the incubator with smallish brahma eggs and 8 developed up to day 18 and died in lockdown sometime… this has happened over 6 times. I am incubating a batch of 4 houdan eggs with a bunch of duck eggs right now, hopefully they will hatch with some eggs their own size
