I already have muscovies, and other poultry so I am trying to expand my type of birds. I'm not necessarily choosing the pheasants on their noise, I just don't want to end up with some crazy loud pheasant that's annoying the rest of the family, (if it was up to me, I don't care how loud they are)
Yes, they definitely look like welsh harlequins. Maybe not the best quality ducks because of their bill colour and the seem a bit mire upright than usuall. I have a drake with a dark bill and some welsh harlequin ducklings with yellowish bills aswell.
Indian runners are definitely a great choice because they are great layers and love foraging around. Mine are very skittish though and are also very loud. They are really fun to watch though, because the look so goofy.
I would probably recommend welsh harlequins. They are fairly good layers...
I'm considering getting a trio of black east indies. They won't be able to free range as I gave larger ducks/Drakes that could hurt them. What sized pen should they have. I don't really want a raised enclosure. Preferably something that's on the ground. What size would I need. Anyone have ideas...
Just got 3 welsh harlequins recently and trying to determine sex, I think I have 1 female as its doing a lot of quacking. One has got a greeny yellow beak which seems like a drake, I'm unsure about the other.
What age are yours and when did the drakes beak turn green.
I currently have some welsh harlequins which are already autosexing. I would love to get some cayuga females to breed with them. Would it be possible in theory after multiple generations to make a auto sexing breed between welsh harlequins and cayugas.
Ya I definitely agree with you about there age. The guy I bought them off had them advertised as 9 weeks old. When my dad collected them he said there was loads of all different ages, so wasn't sure on age.
I'll try upload a YouTube video now
I got these 3, 9 week old ducks yesterday. Number 1 is much whiter than the rest, I think she's a female as I think I heard her quacking. The other two I'm unsure of, they are much darker. Number 3 has a yellow/green beak, does this mean drake? It's hard to tell by quacking because these are...
