All my girls are quite "fussy" with the eggs and if I empty the nests completely they will move them (that's why I simply always leave one egg in there). Buttercup acted the same. I have a feeling they would go broody if I left them to it.
Either way it's kind of cute to watch. :)
Today was very cool.
I was sitting in the pen this sunny afternoon and Dandelion decided to lay an egg right there next to me. 🥰
Sorry about the shaky hand, I had to hold the phone at a somewhat weird angle.
Yeah, birds can be properly cruel too. If I had other enclosures to rotate or any other way to sort of "break them out of it" I would have tried, but since I don't this felt like the best option.
She has gone to a pet home and they have been looking for a female for a very long time. I know...
I've been pondering and wondering about it for a while, but last week I finally made the decision to rehome little Buttercup. She was simply not getting any rest from the other two girls and it was getting cruel. I've added tons of foilage, enrichment, distracions, but nothing seemed to work...
Yes, that's what I've always seen in the past. On one or two occasions they have been attacked by a buzzard or other bird of prey and might be relucant to take off as well. ❤️
Oh wow, here it is a delicacy, though not common in every mans household so to speak... but again when bying pigeon...
Of course they are! <3
I wasn't aware of the seasons of racing but we used to get one or two staying over at the stable during summer - but that would only be a day or two. Sometimes we'd call the SSPCA to come pick them up as they weren't safe from the cats.
It's tricky. I know it can be a...
Yes, I do realise this is on me. :) Same with parrots, corvids and all the others that can get confused when they hit maturity, but I've still got hope that he will settle in himself eventually. It isn't super serious to the point where he flies at my face or anything (though it does help to...
I don't mind him displaying, I'd just prefer it if he didn't attack me during maintenance. 😁 We will just have to see then! Fingers crossed he will settle in his hormones and realize I'm not after his ladies.
It just sort of stuck. I meant to have a bit more imagination, but she is the one with the deformed beak that I have been working on so it was sort of easy to just go: "How is the Beaky one doing today?". 😁
And yeah, with all that pecking I guess it fits!
Lovely weather, so I sat down to chill with the flock for a while. Beaky does her Beaky thing. Never a moment of peace if she doesn't get all the attention. ❤️
I've noticed! 😅
He is also not a happy chappy when I get in there to collect the eggs. Is there a chance he will calm down a bit when breeding season is over?
