I have black australorps, those island reds, barred rocks, and white leghorns. One leghorn is laying & another chicken is too but I’m not sure which one
I have 3 breeds that lay brown eggs. But I haven’t had others to compare the shade. Do we think it was my RI Reds, Black Australorps, or Barred Rocks? My white leghorns are laying, but of course theirs are white. So I know this is one of my other girls.
We have raised our pullets since they were 2 days old. Our 20 week old white leghorn laid her first (and our first) egg today! I am so excited! The other pullets are actually 22 weeks old, so our youngest actually laid the first egg! They are different breeds. Super cool!
I hate to be so impatient, but I AM!!!!! My chicks are 14 weeks old & I am just ready for eggs!! And it’s going to be winter soon, so I have a feeling I won’t be getting too many, :( I love them for their company and all, but I am just so excited to have eggs lol
I posted pics of my chicks not too long ago, and we identified this one as a cockerel. Indeed, he is hahaha. Very large and in charge!! Sweet boy so far!!
Hi! It’s me again! I posted a few days ago about how I bought a pre-fab coop before I knew any better (but we built our own run). So now I just need a better coop. We have 10 chickens. This is a 6x10 Amish built coop. We are on a time crunch and don’t have time to build our own. It’s a 6x10...
I really want to buy one like the ones that Lowe’s sells? You know the ones they have built outside? I just wasn’t sure if there was a specific brand that has worked well for someone on here! :) I have tried Facebook marketplace but unfortunately I live in one of the SMALLEST towns so nothing is...
Anyone using a shed and converted it to a coop? Like an 8x6? I posted in this forum asking about advice and someone said a pretty cheap & easy route would be using a shed. Which one did you buy? I don’t want to spend an arm and a leg, but also don’t want a “cheaply made” one. Provide pics if you...
Hello there!! My partner and I got our 10 chickens (one of which we will be giving away because he’s a cockerel) about 10 weeks ago. When we got our chickens, we knew about the 8sq ft per bird for building a run. So we built one ourselves & just attached our chicken coop to it. Alas, we had...
Our chicks just figured it out on their own. We had to manually put them in the coop for like 2 nights because they didn’t understand the ramp but they figured it out.
Congrats! I am a first time chicken owner as well. I have 10 chicks, 8 of them are a little over 9 weeks old & the other 2 are a little over 7 weeks old. :)
