Hello! About 3 weeks ago our neighbors dog attacked one of our hens. She has healed and grown most of her feathers back, but is terribly mean to our other chickens. I understand that the need to re-establish their pecking order, but she is hurting the other chickens badly. We have her separated...
Yes, you definitely should have more than 3 girls with your rooster. The recommended amount is 7-13 hens per rooster. We originally had our rooster with two hens (just until we integrated them into our larger flock), and I noticed a huge difference in his behavior when we put him with our 14...
Hi! He is adorable! I have a roo that looks similar, and I suspect he might be a silkie mix (I could be wrong) although he doesn’t have many silkie features besides the feathers. I attached a photo of him :)
I know this reply is really late, but thank you so much! I totally forgot that the eggs go dormant for a while during shipping! Your advice helped me hatch 5 perfectly healthy babies! Thanks!
Thank you so much! This really helps! We are pretty sure that that one is an Easter egger because she came out of a light green egg, but we aren’t sure. There are many breeds that lay green eggs.
I wouldn’t be surprised is they were hatched, because we bought the eggs last minute on Amazon. It sounds funny, but we actually had a pretty high hatch rate!
We aren’t 100% sure, but compared to the others it has a very large/bright red comb and thicker legs. He also tends to stand straighter up and makes different sounds from the others. Thanks for your response by the way!
I just recently hatched 3 eggs (2 hens one roo) and I got a silkie and an Easter egger, but I’m not sure about the roo. We thought he might be a silkie, but he doesn’t have many feathers on the top of his head or an extra toe. He’s about 8 weeks old, if that helps. Thanks! (He’s in the middle of...
Hello! I just recently hatched some chicken eggs and I can’t tell what breed some of them are. One of the chicks is a very light yellow with white wings, and seems pretty large compared to the others even though they all hatched on the same day (possibly an Orpington?). The other chick that I am...
I’m so happy that your chick made it! After some further research, I think that the seller gave me an incorrect date for when they were laid. I was increasing the humidity and everything to prep for the hatch. The chick is perfectly healthy considering it’s younger than I thought. I hope that...
Hello! I am currently incubating 6 eggs that are all on day 23, and none have hatched, but I still see movement when I candle them. I finally decided to open one up to see what was going on (which was a terrible idea) and there was a chick that was still alive, but it still had a pretty large...
