My rooster mounted Nugget this morning 😁 she is the silky so now I just wait and see about the frizzle I suppose. I'm sure it is a pullet because my roo is so territorial. He tried to kill the last one I had to give it to my mom.
I had a bully. Mrs.Pepper would not stop attaching Sweet Pea. She seemed to live for it and when she would start the others would join in. I took Mrs.Pepper back to my mom 2 days ago. For the first time since Sweet Pea got here there is peace in the flock.
I tried keeping them separate were they...
I was given a mature silky hen about a week ago. Most of my flock get along with her most of the time. My rooster really seems to like her. However, I have one pullet who should start laying soon that attacks her almost constantly. She is very aggressive and gets the other pullets to join in. I...
I don't know who laid them I have a very mixed flock it has to be one of the Silkies, the Satin, and or the New Hampshire red we lovingly call Big Mama. I don't think my other pullets are quite old enough for it to be one of theirs.
No I do not have a place to safely do that. She seems healthy. Eating, drinking, and otherwise behaving normally. Her wattles and comb are a healthy color.
I have no clue how old she is but it was love at first sight at the sale today. I'm clueless about chicken breeds right now. This is all still new to me. I'm not even a full month into this adventure. Thanks to everyone here I have a good idea what my other feather babies are. So I was hoping...
I'm not sure there was not a lot of squawking so I think she let him they have area they can play and avoid him when he tries that's what they normally do this is the first time he actually succeeded with any of them
I do not know exactly how old these little ladies are. I know they hatched together and are about 4 to 5 months old. Yesterday was the first time my rooster mounted Peppa. This is my first time owning chickens and I'm wondering if that means she will lay her first egg soon?
I finished my nesting boxes and the double doors so I can access all of them from the outside. I did not have a secure enough latch so I improvised and mad a door bar/ rake holder. I took the pics wail I was still working on the nesting boxes so it looks a little different when I open them but...
These are my feather babies I know they are all mix, one is silky and my roo is a turken. The blue one and the speckled one are in multiple pics. I have a total of 6 birds right now but want to get a few more silkies.
I'm not sure what kind of chickens I have. I'm trying to find out so that I can provide them with the best care possible. They are a verity of breeds. 5 in total are hopefully pullets. I also have one naked neck roo who just started crowing this morning.
I'm not sure the exact dimensions but...
How big should nesting boxes be? Someone built my coop for me and I love it but have made some modifications to the roosting area. I intend to make the nesting boxes accessible from the outside. However I have been wondering if I should also make them larger. This is a picture of the nesting...
This little lady is completely black. She hatched at the same time as Sprinkles. I believe her mom is solid black, has a red comb, and a sweet but shy demeanor if that helps identify her at all...
This little lady is a few months old. About a month or so younger than the other three. She has blue feet and could be some kind of mix. Is she an Easter Egger?
I'm not sure their hatch date but my mom hatched them some time back. I expect them to start laying soon if they are infact all pullets. They had a brother who started crowing a few weeks ago. Although these 3 have never crowed I'm still a little unsure about one of them.
My mom believes they...
