we are currently at exotic vet, they think it’s possibly hardware disease or metal poisoning. Is there anyone on here that has ran across this and if so is there any home remedies they used to help our little guys out with flushing it?
Miss Lydia,
Could you possibly identify this that’s going on with our Quacky. I took a video of him having the weird contempt spasms that he never use to do.
Sorry can’t post it for some reason
Well after a day and a half of tube feeding and getting the water in him he needs as well as medicine he’s doing a lot better. But the only thing that’s not making since is he’s buckling as he walks and than loads down where he’s buckles down. Like his legs are weak now. This is going from...
Anybody assist…we have to now tube feed our quacky. When we do this I put the tube down the right side into his crop and put the mashed up pellet food mixed with baby food to make it slightly thicker. With that said he’s not keeping it down. What else could be the issue by chance? He’s...
Unfortunately he’s still down…we’ve just been trying everything and been just taken care of him and force feeding his pellets that we softened up for him and added to a liquid to push down his throat now since he truly won’t each much. He’s not wanting anything but water. We put electrolytes...
They didn’t check for metal poisoning as far as I recall, but we were if he was around our kitchen fumes or pans with teflon or what have you which can cause fumes and lots of issues that take time to come back from for ducks cause their respiratory system is so sensitive. I truly don’t think...
Morning yall, our quacky is still the same. They did a blood draw and separated it and found the clear liquid on top of the blood in tube was yellowish. Should be clear so they are saying it’s possibly a liver issue. Not sure though still until blood tests come back. Question I have is that...
Thank you so much everyone for all the help. We have currently taken him back into the vet and he’s seeing the Avian Exotic doctor right now. We bought the grit and his crop is flat currently. Not full prior to us handing him over to the vet. So that’s ok. He’s getting more x-rays and so on...
Before going to vet no, his quacking was hoarse, and he was sluggish getting around. But he was eating and walking with us out in the yard. Now, he is getting the antibiotics in the morning and night along with the vitamins in his water and he’s still not getting any better. He’s still really...
No other ducks, even though we’ve been wanting to get a few more, but our “Quacky” just fell into our lap as we found him two years ago behind a BBQ almost getting eaten by dogs at our house. So we saved him raised him and he’s now my Emotional Support Animal and he’s truly a domesticated duck...
Also the doctor that saw him was a regular Vet dog/cat with Avian experience. The exotics vet wasn’t in. We are hoping to take him today and see if there’s anything else they missed. The vet took x-rays and everything and a fecal test and everything to them looked fine and negative for any...
He is barely eating his Dumor Duck Feed that he usually eats as well along with all veggies, insects and so on throughout the day. His poop for the majority of the day yesterday was mostly clear liquid. He did have some fecal matter in it due to eating the grasshoppers when he walks around with...
Evening,
Our duck was recently seen by a Vet and he told us that all he had was a blood feather. But they gave us antibiotics, pain meds, and vitamins. We were told to use pain meds first then follow up with the antibiotics for 7 days and give vitamins each day. It’s been three days since...
