Hello again, this won’t be the last you see/read from me- I am a major worry wart, and I am also doing everything wrong, I’m going to just keep it real with you guys, and tell you the truth so I may receive the most thorough and honest advice possible to save my little single duckling. Don’t be...
I tried to put them together right away. Mine attacked it. It was only two days old I had to separate them. Then they were in cages side by side for four days. The new little one stopped eating and was constantly calling for her sisters. I tried putting them together one more time and mine...
They were not at all best friends. I gave the one single duck I bought back. She went running to her sisters and fit right back in without missing a beat. Mine remains alone.
Wow what a wonderful outcome for your duck! I bring mine by his parents to hear them quack and have done so since day number two. I feel his little body calm a bit when he is listening to them and chirping back at them. I wished for his mom to take to him but she hasn’t yet :-( I will continue...
I just got Chirp a mirror and a stuffed friend and he has been happily sitting in front of the mirror and snuggling his friend! Great advice!! Thank you.
So I should opt for maybe a duck under a week old to add in with my one week old duck? And should I just get one other companion or multiple? I’d hate for two or three newbies to band together and never bond with mine. :-(
That’s an excellent idea, the dog crate. I will look into that. Also I have contacted someone with week old ducklings right now. Will they for sure get along with my duck since they’re so young?
Thank you.
Thanks for your reply. I was worried about it having social issues. I will consider getting a couple companions for it asap.
I’m leaning towards a guinea pig/small animal cage, I can put a board down so it’s not walking on the metal plus shavings etc for bedding to soften the floors. The...
Hi, I have a single duckling that is one week old. It spends a lot of time with me, laying on my chest and digging into my hair and sometimes even in my hooded jacket.
I have a Rubbermaid tote with a heat lamp that is it’s brooder box, but I do not see it working for much longer; because I...
Update on the duck!
Wow, has this been an absolute crash course on ducks!!
Great news, the duckling has survived this far! It is growing fast and very smart! And seems healthy enough.
It’s now about a week old and spends a ton of time with me. I keep reading that this is a bad thing, but I...
Well the mom squished the egg and ants began getting to it so I removed it and have been caring for it. It shakes its head almost constantly, has a hard time standing and cannot walk.
I just found out my parents feed them only chicken pellets so I’m changing the adult ducks diets and will...
three eggs only one I think that’s actually living and it pipped internally over 24 hours ago and egg was cracked but membrane intact barely open a little tiny bit. Is it too cold for it to survive outside with mom?
