Sorry. Ignore my question. I didn't go back to your earlier post before I posted this.

I agree. I was wondering if Shadrach was referring to the fact that chickens are routinely being fed the lowest amount of protein possible to stay alive and lay eggs, and production breeds due at 18 months. Is that the wrong part?

Fluffy Butt Acres: Stories of our flock

I know I said no more BFTP the past today but y'all posted too many memorable things on August 20, 2022 so it's really your fault. :D I am not a crier, but this was exceptional. What a perfect song for a great tribute.

One more BFTP for today and I'll stop: these are so cute! You take great pictures with great commentary, Ponypoor.

    BFTP: Theo is so colorful!

Fluffy Butt Acres: Stories of our flock

That's very special! A lap full of little ones would make it totally worth it to not get as much work done!

Fluffy Butt Acres: Stories of our flock

My Twofer today involves major chicken FOMO. First Jane in my low chair. It needed to be checked out. Then Emily had to get in on the act. Finally, messing up my Twofer theme, Mirabel the queen arrives. Nosy chickens.

I love the picture of them all lined up looking out the window. You should submit that to POW.

Something to consider, for sure. My speckled Sussex does fine, so I guess I thought they'd be the same Her amazing personality is a big reason why I want the light Sussex.

Number one on my wish list! They're hard to get here, sadly.

Monday mugshots: This is my Olive Egger, Charlotte. Along with a calm, laid-back personality, I think she's got some Ameracauna in her breeding because of her small beard/muffs.

Glacier is so incredibly beautiful. It's one of my favorite places in the country! You're really blessed to live near it. Except for the presence of grizzlies. I wouldn't want to live near them.

Fluffy Butt Acres: Stories of our flock

It gets pretty hot here for four months or so. I have a friend who had dark Brahma and they seemed to do okay. I may have to check with her again though, because they're on my wish list. I run a fan in both runs, take ice water and frozen water bottles out to them, and run a mister in front of...

Fluffy Butt Acres: Stories of our flock

She's beautiful, but so was Sansa, and Legertha and Sylvie . . . And is it Tillie? The current colorful Polish? So many to choose from. And then there's Hattie. Beautiful inside and out. I think the only really unattractive chickens are some of the weird ones on that video - like the Vietnamese...

Fluffy Butt Acres: Stories of our flock

What's not to love with an Orpington? This is Jane. She's officially my smartest hen - always the first to figure things out. When my younger group were stuck in a brooder way too long as we tried to get their coop built, I bought a nipple waterer that hung on the outside to give them more...

Fluffy Butt Acres: Stories of our flock

This! My Abigail does this. I don't even try to hand feed her anymore, sadly - just throw her treats to the ground in front of her. Did you ever solve this problem? Other than tucking one small treat at a time between my thumb and first finger, as Shad suggested and which also takes forever...
