Some of my hens have spurs, they can be pretty feisty but this is definitely the worst they’ve ever done. My husband said he will cull her when he gets home, she’s separated for now. Thank you
I should also add this was just another hen that did this to her (they get locked up at night and nothing can get in) but she’s a meanie and likes to pick fights with everyone so she must have picked the wrong hen to fight with
She pecked it some more and opened it up definitely her crop, unfortunately all I can do is keep her comfortable until 4 I run childcare out of my home and can’t do things like that in front of the children. But I’m keeping her as comfortable as I can until then 😥
Anyone know what is hanging out of my chicken? Probably going to cull when my husband gets home but wondering if maybe it’s something that’s a simple fix? She keeps eating it and pulling out more and the other hens were to so I have no idea what it is or if it’s something important to her that...
I got this hen today. She’s in overall good health other than her eyes. She told me she was blind, just want some opinions on what everyone thinks it may be? Both eyes look like this. I don’t see any discharge but she won’t really let me get close enough to look.
It’s hatch day starting yesterday eggs were put in October 19th. There are a few unhatched eggs but it is so crowded that some chicks are being pressed as in the photo. Normally I’d wait 72 hours from first hatch. But this batch is more than I’ve done previously and I’m worried about trampling...
I have a broody hen and I have 90 eggs incubating inside. Can I slip a few of them under her or is it too cold? East coast Canada. I plan on taking them once they hatch if I do give her some. Just want to for fun but if it’s too cold I won’t bother.
