bump, I am having this same issue. My best most amazing rooster had an eye issue and now is sick laying down. Was making a strange low sound in his throat and has mouth open.
Chlorine dioxide, ivermectin and oil of oregano are strongly antiviral. Good things to test out though TPTB will not endorse those thoughts, nor their successes when you find them
She did! I did exactly that and she hatched just fine after that. It was not exactly pleasant but reading and re-reading that guide gave me confidence in what I was doing. And I do believe she was shrink wrapped. I’m going to really try to keep my humidity levels more stable next time. It’s...
Wow I think she was actually shrink wrapped. I know the article says it's rare, but she seemed to be. We did have some fluctuations in the bater from 29-45 for some of these cold and warm days recently. I ended up unshrinking her head and it was a tight wrap, I don't know how to say for sure...
Thanks! Right after I posted that she seemed to start making a little more progress on the membrane. Not 100% sure what a real problem looks like vs a 'leave it alone'
Here are photo and video
She is last to hatch so far and I put her in late (day 3). Today is day 22 since starting the hatch but for her may be more like day 20 since a late addition.
She pipped all the way through yesterday morning and now it’s 7p so over 24 hours. I peeled back some shell...
Wow, your spot on, I got 3 more chicks that are white each with a black speck on their back. Will have my 11 yo read this post as well since the comets are his and this is very interesting! Thank you!
Update! Maybe she doesn't have wry neck, she is walking around fine now. We almost culled her. She had an eggshell stuck to her neck and she still has a membrane stuck to her back right now but she's hanging with the rest now and seems fine, eating and drinking.
I am going to try new humidity...
That's so interesting. I just am hatching some today and I have had several with a tiny pip but nothing else and just now have a wry neck one with a stuck shell that just couldn't hatch herself. Then we gave her a hand and her legs look deformed. I am going to try that next time for sure with...
I think I am starting to understand it. When I read lavender split I thought it meant they looked mottled! So my lavenders that look perfectly beautiful must have a black split gene in either the roos, the hens or both. Well, I hope more eggs hatch and we get some lavenders, time will tell...
Hello, we have just hatched some eggs today from our own chickens. I am confused by their appearance as the only black animals on the farm are goats and pigs!
We have two lavender orpington hens and two lavender orpington roos. They are related as I understand, my friend gave them to me. 3...
