We hope so as well. We have a rooster ordered currently and prefer to only have one. This is one of oir favorite chicks, her name is Bent Twig because some of her little toes were bent when we got her.
This is a six week old chick. We are supposed to have pullets but this one has a larger comb that has more of a dark pink shade to it. The others that have combs have more skin toned combs? We are very new to chickens.
Hello, we are first time chicken hoarders (I mean owners, lol) and I have a serious question: we have an assortment of chicks Wyandottes, Australorps, and Jersey Giants. We are converting a shed into a coop and we have enough space for them both in the coop and in the run but i am reading about...
Thank you for your reply! The next delivery available is in May for our local store. We were going to be building a sh*t shelf and making a little integration or brooding area with hardware cloth for integration and brooding.
Hello, my family and I are new to chickens this year. We have been reading about the care required including spacing both inside (coop) and out (run), nesting boxes and all of the things people should look into. We will eventually have 17-20 birds one being a rooster (jersey giant). We currently...
Thank you! With all of this talk (on my facebook pages) of so many chicks passing I was a bit nervous. We have lost three but it was the following day after we got them. They had a rough time getting delivered, poor babies! I will never order any this early again.
We are new to chickens so we are nervous but I am unsure that this is “normal” there is what I think is a feather in the poop but the consistency and color is different than all the other “leavings” I see. Can anyone give me peace of mind or information if there is something we need to fix?
Hello, we have a chick that is roughly five days old. She has this bald spot and because we are new to all this we want to know if we should be concerned for it or the other chicks? There is no redness or blood and she appears fine otherwise.
Thank you so much! We are so excited but nervous. We aren’t farmers and so we are fairly certain these chicks will be more like family pets that will occasionally give us eggs, lol. We are SOFT, lol.
We are getting twelve chicks. And we can comfortably for them all in this brooder for now but moving them to the garage would mean I could have all twelve in a ten by ten area with heater brooder plate or heat lamp. I really just want to make sure that they will be warm enough. It is around 10...
I LOVE this chart, thank you very much. We want to keep them in our laundry room as long as possible but I am concerned about running out of room in there. If we move them to the garage in a month or so we can set aside a 10x10 area (still with heaters) but cannot find anything about whether it...
Hello, the store we purchased our chicks from called and alerted me that our chicks are in fact coming tomorrow instead of next month (today was the original day this is the third time the date has changed). We are wondering if we live in Michigan can we put the chicks in the garage in four...
We put in our order for our chickens! We ordered 8 Olive Eggers, two black australorps, one Black Jersey Giant and one Silver Laced Wyandotte chicken. They should be here next week.
This is the shed we will be using as a chicken coop. We spent this evening cleaning it out. This is part of the...
The reinforced area will be all over but until we watched a YouTube video we hadn’t thought of the bottom. It “should” have been obvious, but it wasn’t. Also, because we will be using a dog kennel (still in very nice condition) we realized there are areas we definitely will need to pay special...
Hello! We have a nice shed that has been gently used that we are going to convert to a shelter for the chickens. My husband has a lot of experience in carpentry so we will be making a roost area, nesting boxes, possibly put one or two windows in, definitely going to make sure there is cross...
