Question about vents in our current shed

I'm about 20 minutes outside of San Francisco. Should they be vents like the current ones or open with hardware cloth?

Question about vents in our current shed

Hi everyone! Just a quick question. We're turning our current shed into our chicken coop. With these vents up above (we have this one as well as one across from this one, plus two windows on opposite walls) should we pull these vents out (so more air circulates through there) and cover them...

Thank you:) Truthfully this is all new to me, so definitely just learning. I'm sure human error was to blame for sure. Definitely heartbreaking:( more heartbreaking that 3 made it to lockdown and 1 survived.

Hi All! I realized I never gave an update for the one lone survivor out of the 10 eggs we hatched. This is Truffle (all yellow:) we went out the following weekend and added 3 more:) Let my adult kids and husband name the others. String Cheese (lol), Penelope & Bentley. We'll see what we end up...

Yeah, I totally get it. That is my exact thought about the neighbors. I'm glad we're close and get along and hopefully later down the road could bring eggs and keep them hush hush lol. I'm also glad I live on a dead end street with no neighboring houses behind ours;)

Sorry that's so upsetting to you. I'm just telling our city rules, not saying everyone around town follows them. The people around the corner have 6 chickens. I think it's more of what neighbors are going to rat you out.

Hi thank you! We actually have out temporary coop/run that we got as a kit, while my husband, his cousin and co-worker work on turning our shed into the coop and building an attached run next to it. Yeah, I started off with 10 eggs and 3 is what was left after lockdown. Where I live, because we...

Thank you and I will! I'm not sure what breed. I actually bought fertile eggs from a local grocery store and out of the 10 I added to the incubator, 3 made it to lockdown. One has been extremely active (hoping that's a good thing, watching it's little egg wiggle around:) all I have is they are...

    (1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens? Yes I am. I am currently on day 20 of my incubation. Crossing fingers! (2) How many chickens do you have right now? None, hopefully in the next day or two (3) What breeds do you have? I'm not sure the breed that will be hatching...

    converting catio to a coop?

Hi! I know this was a couple years ago but just wondering how it went? I am also in the SF Bay Area and I was looking at attaching one of these to my shed for the chicken run:)

    Raised Bed for Brooder?

That's what I'm going to use as well, but I'm wondering what will the "flooring" of the raised bed be as it's an open bottom because it's meant for your garden.
