20wk old hen straining to defecate, making weird noises- Help

Hopefully 😅 we'll find out, I suppose! It's been a bit of an adjustment with the young hens, but we're trying! I didn't have her tested for CRD to confirm, but treating based on symptoms. I'm not opposed to taking chickens to be vetted within reason, but as terrible as this may make me sound...

20wk old hen straining to defecate, making weird noises- Help

I'm hoping she's squatting for the other birds with her 😅 she's flighty around people so she stops the weird squatting/kicking behavior as soon as she realizes I'm there and acts 100% normal. It's very odd. We have a rooster, but he's part of our original flock and she hasn't even seen him...

    Help with reading Xray image

To be 100% honest, if you're unable to find an ideal avian vet to help fix her leg, letting it heal on it's own will likely result in its own set of challenges and could likely not heal well. If it doesn't heal well, her quality of life would not be great. You can always give it a shot and see...

20wk old hen straining to defecate, making weird noises- Help

Thank you for your response! I have been hesitant to say this because I don't want to be judged for not being more knowledgeable or have a ton of people start messaging me, but here we are. I'm a veterinary assistant and he is one of our owners/boss/head veterinarians. He has been seeing exotics...

20wk old hen straining to defecate, making weird noises- Help

The first pic of the hen (when I tried to upload the video) looks rough, I'm sorry, she was eating while perched, which is why she appears hunched over.

I tried to attach a video, but it only uploaded a screenshot of it 🙃I'll try to freeze frame it for a better image

They were up, so I snagged some pics of droppings and a video. Hopefully I can get it to upload! Pics are flash and no flash

    Help with reading Xray image

It can, depending on the species. From my understanding (and I could be incorrect!) in some avians, such as chickens, it can create deposits which can show up radiographically and make the bones appear "patchy". Again, from my understanding, when the deposits occur instead of occuring in a more...

20wk old hen straining to defecate, making weird noises- Help

No eggs that I'm aware of. Seller told me they had not laid yet to his knowledge either. They do not currently have grit, but my delivery of it does arrive tomorrow. I can get photos tomorrow, but they're closed up for the night and have gotten a bit stressed when "going to bed" the last few...

    Help with reading Xray image

They don't appear normal to me. I am a veterinary assistant at a small animal and exotic practice, however, I'm not a veterinarian, so please don't take my word as gold. In hens we've seen with bones that have that "moth eaten" appearance, they have a calcium and/or vitamin D3 deficiency...

20wk old hen straining to defecate, making weird noises- Help

Quick background - picked up from a local farm Saturday afternoon. Farm had a sneezing turkey on sight, but all the hens appeared happy and healthy. 3 hrs after getting her and her sister home, they began sneezing, had a little clear nasal discharge and would drink large amounts of water and...
