Converted "tool shed" to use as a coop?

I have thought about that, but because of the gate, it's not possible. We are planning a "chicken wagon" so that I only have to make a single trip, twice a day. I know it will get old, but we don't have much of choice.:idunno

They will have them in the run as well! I will be carting them through one gate, and it could be at least 100 yards beyond that to the other corner of the yard, depending on where the run is that day! ;)

Converted "tool shed" to use as a coop?

Thankfully, we have to step up to get into the tool shed, so that's one less thing to worry about. I saw on the news about your severe weather up there! ::shudders::

Converted "tool shed" to use as a coop?

I'll have to check tomorrow for exactly how much it is shaded. After looking at it, it doesn't get as much shade in the PM as I thought. Turns out, the neighbors recently cut down the tree that did. (It was sick, so no hard feelings.) It should be completely shaded in the AM (by our own...

It's literally just studs and pieces of plywood. Nothing else. No siding to pull off. :ya

Converted "tool shed" to use as a coop?

We sort of do get the remnants of storms. The wood wall is "inside" of a breeze way/hallway so it's 99% protected from weather already and it's in an area that is relatively protected. Now that I said that, a storm will find the 1%. :th

Okay, I hadn't thought of going with that much! That makes sense, though. My brain was stuck on putting in windows. We'll do one giant window! :wee

Converted "tool shed" to use as a coop?

Hey y'all! I have been rethinking our decision to use our old "tool shed" for a coop. We live in Central TX and the "tool shed" is brick on three sides and solid wood on the fourth, but has a cinder block/brick wall about three feet away from it. It has plenty of outlets and has a concrete...

I'm surprised that there's no limit in Austin! (I just looked it up.) Even before I came to Central Texas, there was a limit to the number of hens in my city.

Actually, the code reads "No person may keep more than eight hens, or two geese or two ducks on a lot in a residential district in the." Does that mean we're allowed 24 hens, since we are a 3 person household? :lau

Frustrated about the availability of chicks

Thank you for your info! The "new" coop should be done in the next week or 2. I didn't know about the state threads, but I'll take a look there!
