We are putting a polycarbonate panel roof on the run. The run is 26 ft long and the eglu will be inside. I am definitely open to feedback! My husband is very set on the eglu.
We do not have Grizzlies, but we do have bears (unfortunately) well habituated to people that pass through daily. We will have a bear-strength electric fence, a secure run, and the eglu inside the run. Bears break into cars and homes here, so I am aware that there is nothing that is...
I split an order of 10 "Rare and Common" female chicks from Hoovers with a friend. 3 of mine are white Leghorns, but these 3 are still a mystery. Any guesses on breed and/or gender? They are 3 weeks today. Pics are from today and the day they arrived (1-2 days).
Thanks!
This chick was sold to us as a Black Copper Maran, but the barring on the wings has me thinking she (He? Definitely getting roo vibes) is crossed with something else. The farm also has Barred Rocks, so maybe there was some elict mating? She has feathered feet.
Does the frame seem sturdy? We will need to strengthen for snow as well. I ordered two of the 13ft ones to put back to back so we have 26 feet and 2 doors. We plan to put the coop on one side and block off a clean area to get eggs and for us to come and go without the chickens escaping.
We live in bear country and have several neighbors with coops, so we knew what we needed before we even got chicks from a predator deference perspective.
