Nope, no hens. I've got one lone hen who frequents my yard to range, but she doesn't roost in my coop, nor do I know where she nests. I'm trying my best to make sure they have everything they need to not be stressed.
Unfortunately I don't. At least, not right now at 12am... lol.
Fair enough...
Lol. This is probably it.
The gaps at a maximum are half an inch thick. I understand snakes could probably make that. But by my understanding, snakes are typically after eggs?
The coop is about 20ft wide by 40ft long. There's 17 pullets.
Nothing as of yet. They've just been introduced to...
They've heard it once before, but I don't think it's been this severe. It is a very loud sound to be honest when the rain is bad, in that small, enclosed space. I'm kinda wondering if maybe that's what it is?
They're not in a brooder. Attached is a pic of my coop in daylight. They have ample space. I only just added a lamp today because the temp is supposed to get down to 30-50 F over the next several days. It's been 65 low to 85 high for about 4 days now.
It's about 60 out and they're 6/5 weeks old. They've got a heat lamp, food, water. They were just eating/drinking last time it was sun up and I checked on them.
Sundown? Not sure. I just introduced them to their coop almost a week ago now, so I've had them locked in there. I plan on at exactly...
I've been checking on them since around sundown. They've been acting like this for about 3ish hours. I just introduced them to their coop almost a week ago now. They've never done this. It's a tin roof barn with this coop off to the side. Do you guys think maybe it's the sound of the rain? I...
Gotcha. She hasn't even been introduced to them, ever. They've never met. I've taken care of them since day 1. They're currently 6 weeks old, and already out in the coop. They've been in there for about 4 days. I'm going to start letting them out next week, a couple hours before sundown so they...
Well this one hen I have isn't 'technically' their mother, so does that matter? I mean there is a chance she'll try to like, take on that role.
So do you think I should be worried about them following her off to wherever she roosts?
Hey y'all. First post, good to be here.
My question(s) is/are relatively simple (I think?).
I've got 17 chicks I'm getting ready to introduce to their coop. They'll be 5/4 weeks old this upcoming week. Weather is fine, 65-75 estimated indefinitely (spring has sprung).
Here come my questions...
