My roosters are ruining hens' back feathers, does anyone else have this problem? How to prevent or stop?
Okay, I dont know how much I can do to the roosters, because they are VERY skidish, and I will look at the hen saddles but I dont really want to have to buy all of them one- malirae

Around 2 years ago, we picked up 4 clearance chicks from Tractor Supply and ended up with 2 roosters, and this year we noticed that they started messing up the back feathers on our hens and now more than half our flock of around 20 hens are pretty much completely missing their back feathers. We don’t use a heating plate or anything at that age. But if it’s really cold I would put something for at least them to have a choice of heat.- malirae

I usually let mine outside in our big coop at 5-7 weeks but it will definitely depend on the temps outside. I live in Texas, so our chicks tend to be okay outside sooner.- malirae

They did grow up looking the same and the only big difference is that one (Noodles) has some pattern on her chest, and the other (Spring Roll) dosent.
