    Bumble foot help.

Here is her beak. I think it may be causing some issue with her eating, the way the bottom beak has that point that curves up unnaturally. When she goes straight at something (like trying to peck my freckles) she just bounces back off without getting a grip on it. She did manage to catch and eat...

    Bumble foot help.

I have an ex-commercial cinnamon queen. She has a sore on her foot that I am treating as bumble foot. It’s a big scab, but there is no obvious swelling or anything. Could it be just a sore and not bumble foot? She also has an area of raised scales on both legs. I’m not sure if this is just a...

14 week sapphire jewels - hen or roo?

I don't see anything that screams roo to me. #1 has a more prominent comb, but it doesn't seem very red for a 14 weeker. #2 looks like it might have some pointy hackle feathers? #notanexpert

Did your chicks' (including roos) personalities carry on into adulthood?

Well, you know how those teenage years can be. You never know what you will get.

Did your chicks' (including roos) personalities carry on into adulthood?

No experience, I am on my first batch of chickens this year. But i have seen many people rehoming their favorite, sweetest, most loving rooster. Usually state that they became aggressive once hormone/full maturity reached.

8 hatched and dry - 2 still working on it

If the chicks are completey dry, feel free to move them. Try to do quickly to avoid too much cool down or humidity loss. You can also add some very warm water to incubator water to boost temp and humidity while moving the chicks.

Is it humane to trim a beak, and if so, how would I go about it?

@Shadrach i have two ex-battery hens. I'm treating one for bumble foot and her nails need trimming for sure. But her upper beak looks like it was cut back, and the lower beak has a sharp point coming off the side. Do you have any post or videos showing what you had to do for your hens beak...

    Pasty Butt Coming back

I think you just have to keep it clean daily till it stops. I have seen some recommendation to use a little olive oil or vaseline on/around the area also.

Help please: Is this a disease, injury or something else?

Neck/upper back. I guess it’s probably egg yolk. I know they were crammed into those pens and trailers before I got these. I just didn’t see how the yolk would get down into feathers on the upper back/base of neck area in just one spot not everywhere, and without any of the white being all over...

Help please: Is this a disease, injury or something else?

Don’t know if they are molting or just in poor condition. Just got them from a sale. One is missing all of her breast feathers. The other looks better feather wise.

    17 RiR Chicks, picture tips?

How old are they? Once they start developing their combs and stuff it’ll probably be fairly easy to tell.

Help please: Is this a disease, injury or something else?

We got 2 laying hens. I think they were ex-battery hens maybe? Bad condition, dirty. I broke down and gave them a bath with baby shampoo. One had this on its back near the base of a patch of feathers. I know there are yellow lice, but this didn’t move or anything. Could it be any kind of...

How to help a dirty, filthy chicken?

I broke down and gave them a bath with baby shampoo, rinsed clean, trimmed a few feathers in vent areas. Poor babies had food and/or poop all up in there feathers on their backs. One is worse than the other and missing more feathers. But the “healthier, more feathered one had this yellow stuff...
