I have a small flock, 9 hens and 1 roo. Only 1 hen is laying so far (still young), and they all get along great during the day... That being said, at night it is hell for my Orpington. No one wants to roost next to her, and one of my hens doesn't let anyone roost next to her unless it is 2...
My lavender orp is srsly the dumbest chicken I have. lol She has the shredder gene too, so I can't even say, " at least she's pretty".....
I just call her potato.
I am pretty excited to receive my order from them next week. The prices seemed alright to me since there is free shipping and just a 40$ order fee, which is still about half the price of shipping from other hatcheries I've seen. Good luck on your chicken math! lol :wee
This makes me excited for my order in 2 weeks! I ordered 3 ACs. (1 roo and 2 hen) so I'm hoping if they include the extra chick, it's a hen lol.
It's nice to hear positive reviews and see cute baby pictures!
Hi all! I was looking around on a hatchery website and noticed that they are predicting how many of certain breeds will have female vs male on a certain hatch date. How do they know this? I am super curious about the process. Thanks!
Hi, I am getting ready to rehome this little guy since I already have a rooster. I don't want 2 just yet. But I was hoping for a few more opinions on it to make sure first. 9 - 10 -week-old red bantam cochin
Thank you!
Thank you. I'm kind of sad to do it, but I didn't want the bantam size in my flock, and with them all still being so young I'm hoping the transition is quick and easy for them all.
I mean, i dont think so. They all still sleep very close together at night, and during the day they just do chicken stuff. They are still pretty young.
HI all, silly question probably, but, I have 2 roosters and 8 hens. They are all about 2 months old, one of the roosters is just starting to crow and be a roo. The one I want to rehome is a little bantam cochin, he isn't aggressive or anything and he will be going to my friend's house to be with...
