She was slow moving and wouldn’t eat her treat this morning, which is when I noticed something wrong. Once I tugged it out and put her down, she went running back with the rest and seems fine now. I’m going to watch her tho, because her bottom is fairly dirty now because of it hanging poop...
It definitely felt like soft shell material and the blue top looks like her normal egg color.
She is 7 months and a he’s been laying for just a couple weeks.
Layer feed, scraps, and they free range all day.
I let my chickens out this morning and noticed right away that there was what looked like mucous and poop stuck to the bottom of one of my hens. I picked her up and noticed a long shell like piece hanging out of her. I pinched the end of it and the bottom broke. It is hollow. I grabbed gently...
I actually just saw this also. I just let them out to free range. I might try it when I put them back in later. I watching her every time I look out the window to see if she is wandering off somewhere.
Yes! My pink eggs in there vary a bit day to day. But do you think that cream egg on top could be from one of the others that laid the others in the bowl?
I bought chicks from a friend in April. She said this chicken, and two others that I bought, were hatched from blue eggs and were Crested cream legbars. Two of them did, in fact, turn out to be clearly cclb. This hen, Francine, tho is throwing me. She looked identical in pattern as a chick to...
I got 4 chicks at 1 week old April 11th, 2 cream legbar, 2 cream legbar/black copper maran mix. Both maran mixes and 1 of the legbars started laying weeks ago. But one either has not, or she has a nest somewhere while she is free ranging.
What are the chances she is still not laying? Or should...
He is so good with them! There are 8 hens, and he is the only roo. He is constantly out there calling for one if she wanders away from the group, leading the group around to get snacks, and just generally chatting with them. I hope he stays this way. He isn’t aggressive at all, but he definitely...
Yay! My crested CL is my only roo and while he doesn’t love to be picked up, he is gentle and sweet so far. I’m hoping that remains the case, because I want to experiment with the different colors he might produce in his offspring! 😂 if I get a good picture of him today I’ll share as well! Mine...
She is a mix of a black copper maran and a crested cream legbar. (I have two like this.) I know they should be olive or green, but I’m curious if anyone has this mix and what color green they’ll be? And if they are speckled green? She should start laying in a month or two, so at this point I’m...
I got these two from a bin labeled Blue Rock. But then one grew up to be completed black, with green metallic feathers. Not very Blue Rock of her. 😂
Do you think Black Betty is an Australorp? And do you think Snowy(the silver one) is a Blue Rock or a Blue Australorp?
She was a chipmunk looking tiny chick. I bought her along with some cclb. But, there were a mix of breeds in the box I grabbed from. The older she gets, the less she looks like a cclb. (No crest and more brown/reddish coloring.)
