    Feather plucking

They arent fighting. This one just grabs feathers. They're literally minding their own business, walking around and if they walk past her, she yanks the feathers out. Or if she passes by, there go some feathers. No fighting. No squabbles. I think she has a screw loose.

    Feather plucking

I had her crated today in the run, just for a few hours. I was hoping she was a quick learner lol. She is not independent. Her little flock relies heavily on eachother

She was eating them at first and now she just leaves them. I thought she was lacking protein, but theres no way with the diet I offer.

    Feather plucking

I did think about those, but they seem so inhumane. Ill try adding some more things and separting her for some time here and there and see if that changes anyhting. Otherwise ill have to make a decision. Its not fair to the rest of the flock. Thank you 😊

    Feather plucking

I thought of that, except she has exhibited this behavior from day one. It started as pecking and has developed into plucking. But they have perches, shallow bowls with water that I put frozen vegetables in, dust bath bin (as well as the dirt in the run) and they spend a lot of their time (by...

    Feather plucking

They get them in the evening. They have free food all day, but they mainly eat first thing in the morning and again in early evening. Then I take out snacks. Then some of them nibble on their feed right before they head to bed for the night

    Feather plucking

Kambalch high protein, they get a mix of fruits and veggies almost every day. I might miss a day here and there. Meal worms every morning. I sprinkle them around so they have to scratch for them. They have a dirt run, I turn it over once a week (it gets cleaned every day) but the dirt starts to...

    Feather plucking

I have a pullet that we call Pecky because since the day we got her, she pecks at everything. Should have taken her back. Her pecking has turned into feather plucking. She does it to all of the hens. They have a protein rich feed, fruits and veggies, plenty of space. I am going to try separating...

My hen ate a roofing nail

The video is in the gallery. We cut the end of the nail off. It is still in her. No way to remove it without surgery and we can't do that. But with the end removed, she is much more comfortable.

    Bumblefoot treatment

So we've been treating the bumblefoot for about a week and im not getting anywhere. One foot keeps forming a scab and it's almost as if the infection is spreading. It never formed a kernnel. It has stayed gooey pus. Ive tried getting down to fresh tissue but when I think im there, and wrap it...

    Bumblefoot treatment

Thank you!!! It was a bit nerve wracking lol, but we got it done!! I'm thankful that Poppy held still (I like to think she knows we're trying to help her) and my husband is so capable! I asked if he ever imagined this would be our life when he asked me to marry him and he said not one clue 🤣
