Top of the evening to you all.
I have some fowl about. 2 roosters and a dozen hens, also a handfull of ducks. More on the way in that I plan to hatch eggs before summer is over.
They are doing well. One leghorn hen is a little slow but I suppose nothing is perfect.
I would like to just boost...
That's the yolk sack that hasn't been fully absorbed.
Please put the chick back extremely carefully and leave it alone completely.
It`s a very fragile process that doesn't allow for picking up or even taking pictures.
Make sure you have them eating what you give them.
Then give them something.
I like my rats to eat sweet n salty popcorn through late winter and then float the s&s popcorn on about 9 inches of oil.
I don`t even check. There will be about a dozen on the bottom come morning. Every week.
Chop them...
Just did a small piece of fence and went to the store and got paint for the next piece that had collapsed.
This is the part of the fence that keeps the sheep out of my herb garden. It wasnt doing that which was perturbing me to some degree.
I like my sheep. I also liked my sage seedlings.
Every situation is different so find what works for you.
What has worked for me in the past is:
1. Not actually dragging the tractor but pivoting. As in keeping a short side in place and rotating the length.
2. cutting a piece of cardboard to push them to the front of the run and then moving...
I agree with the people saying worrying about it won´t help.
Meanwhile, I don't like the look of plastic feeders and waterers.
I like to keep my yard looking cute so I have glass water dishes from thrift stores.
The only eye sore I have is the bathing pool for my runner ducks. I`m now thinking...
I know she revored but ducks still need their niacine (type of vitamin B)
If feeding duck food doesn't work for you I have found feeding peas helps. I just toss about a cup full of frozen peas in their pool on most days. It keeps them strong.
PS: I apologise. I see now that you were already...
She'll still care for the chicks. Just because she starts laying again doesn't mean she won't.
Of course, if she goes broody again, they will have to fend for themselves but by that time they usually do well as their own group.
Juveniles rarely get bullied here. Hardly ever.
Your coop is lovely.
Just put them in there.
They have to be in there a lot with a minimum of every night.
Make the effort of just putting them in there before dark. Or just go out in the dark and pick them up and physically put them in there.
Lookit, it's never one rat.
That rat had a mommy and a daddy and they had other babies, rest assured they did.
Meanwhile these mfers are doing spring show and tell about procreation.
Expect to have 200 rats.
You are not going to throw down with that over corn bread and burping.
Here's what you...
They just don't know.
They would ofcourse love to sleep under a roof on a pile of straw but the have to be told it's there and they can sleep on it.
I just keep on putting them back and making sure they like it there.
Hi,
I have 7 chicks that hatched in a brinsea last night. They are doing very well.
I had planned on raising them myself but thankfully my favorite silky has gone broody late last week. She has been a great mom before.
I'm going to place the chicks under her tomorrow night. I know people do...
Just clean coarse sand will do.
Tiny pebbles in a month.
Just make sure to understand crushed shell is not the same as grit.
Both are beneficial but not for the same reason.
If you are feeding your chicks mash or meal adding grit isn't that big of a deal. You should get it for them but don't...
Hi! You should totally get chickens and a rooster. They are fun, help your garden (if you get the number/space right) and the eggs are a bonus!
2 things about the eggs.
1. A dozen hens will get you about 8 eggs a day. Every single day.
And you should collect them every single day unless you...
