    Pullet or cockeral?

5 weeks old now. Barnyard mix. Out of 4 chicks one is very obviously a roo, 2 look like pullets to me, but not sure on #4 here. I do have an older sibling hen that is colored just like this, but would love opinions. Thanks!

    Broody Hen

Whats the earliest anyone has placed chicks under a broody hen? I have a hen that's been setting for less than a week and I'm really tempted to give her some chicks but don't want to do it too soon and end up with babies I now have to brood. She has successfully raised chicks in the past and...

    Leghorn mix rooster

I have easter eggers with black, splashes, blues, and then mostly barnyard mixes that are mainly barred in gold and black, plus some red hens and light brahmas

    Leghorn mix rooster

I have acquired a rooster that is 1/4 leghorn and is white with a tiny bit of color (black specks) that bleeds through on his wings, not really much to speak of. Would his offspring always be white or would I get some colored ones as well? My flock consists of a variety of colored breeds (no...

Sorry for all the replies to this one post lol but there's a "designer" chicken called a scarlet bielefelder being marketed maybe he's one of those 🤣 Its a rhode island x bielefelder. It would explain a lot! Oh these designer birds make me giggle

Also is this barring kind of hidden under the top feathers?

    Here's another hen vs roo!

That could well be as I purchased him from a lady that got him and others from a hatchery, so he's definitely not from a breeder. Here's a terrible photo of him and also of a daughter of his that is red (but she also cpuld be his daughter AND granddaughter if that makes a difference....yes he...

    Here's another hen vs roo!

I am really loving the mixes I'm getting from my roo though, the hens have been great layers and the boys have grown fast and I've had some very tasty soup :)

    Here's another hen vs roo!

I only have a bielefelder rooster so unfortunately that's his only father option lol.

    Here's another hen vs roo!

1/2 bielefelder and I'm thinking 1/2 easter egger because of the wonky comb but I'm not 100% on the mom. Could be out of my maran-ish hen because she has a somewhat large somewhat floppy comb lol. Roughly 3 months old.
