11 week chick suddenly lethargic, emergent

Adding, he did pass waste. Sorry for the flash, I have the lights in his room dimmed. I'm not experienced enough to know if there's any significance here.

11 week chick suddenly lethargic, emergent

We have several 11 week old swedish flower hens. One of them had signs of coccidiosis at the end of June, they were all treated, and he made a full recovery. They are finally spending overnight in their coop, after a lot of stress getting an alternative to the Eglu that turned out to be a hot...

8 week swedish flower hen breathing issues

So to answer, they have been getting frequent field trips to an outside run with coop until the coccidiosis. I kept them in while that course of corid was completed. They love their field trips. I would like to put them out now for good, but with the summer heat realized that unfortunately the...

8 week swedish flower hen breathing issues

Thank you! I can't hear any strange respiratory sounds. She (or he, haha) is the only one who is open mouth panting. It's a comfortable 74 degrees in there so it isn't the heat. So I guess I was assuming this was strange breathing somehow. I'm trying to figure out what the open mouth behavior is.

    Integrating chick with crooked toe/splint

I will definitely have to do that! Now that they're 8 weeks old, there are two that have much more red combs and darker wattles and she isn't one. I posted in another section because she's having some breathing issues recently, there's a video of my pretty girl you can see there. Thank you again.

8 week swedish flower hen breathing issues

I have an 8 week old swedish flower hen who started exhibiting symptoms yesterday morning. She is the only chick with symptoms though I think I've heard the rare sneeze among them. The chicks just finished a course of corid because one of them (not this one) had signs of coccidiosis. They...

    Integrating chick with crooked toe/splint

Just wanted to update weeks later and say she integrated pretty fast, the biggest hurdles were her desire to be with me instead of the other chicks. One of the things I had encouraged her to do when she was separated was a little scratch scratch with her feet because I noticed it pulled the...

    Integrating chick with crooked toe/splint

Thank you! We've been afraid to make that call since we have zero chick expertise. I appreciate the assessment.

    Integrating chick with crooked toe/splint

Thank you both. Yes, I'm weighing if there are diminishing returns. Even though the splint was soft and wrapped not tightly, I noticed some slight reddening of places on the toe after just 12 hours in the splint. Thank you for the ideas, I was able to look up some of them on here for visual...

    Integrating chick with crooked toe/splint

I hatched swedish flower hens about a week ago and have 6 that were normal and 1 that required assistance out of the shell (I feel I waited too long to intervene, this is the first time I've hatched eggs). The one that needed help out of the shell had curled toes that somewhat straightened out...
