I didn't even think of that aspect! It definitely makes sense, though. So you're probably right on that one. Fly away home was my favorite as a girl, so I've always loved them. Lol. I really want ducks, but everyone I've spoken to and the research I've done said they aren't the friendliest and...
Thank you all for the info. Yeah, we paid $17.99 for them as poults marked as heritage breeds. Sign said Midget White or White Holland. We were familiar with the White Holland and purchased them. Ever since then, I've researched as much as I can and everyone says they're likely BBW. We were...
I've never seen a BBW in person so I'm not sure how to judge weight. I've just always heard they get really big, really fast. We found a Cornish Cross hen that my neighbors had and that was struggling and I could 100 percent tell she was a meat bird, but that was my most experience with them
They're not that heavy to me. I can pick them both up easily. The boy is obviously bigger, but I'd say he's probably 20-25 lbs. She's probably 15-20. Haven't actually weighed them.
So I'll start this by saying I made a rookie mistake and bought 2 turkeys at TSC in April. They're about 5 months old now and we bought them as heritage breeds (midget white, or white Holland turkeys). My neighbor's had a white Holland who we loved who met a bad end so we got these because we...
Thank y'all so much! I've never had any Easter eggers so def not a pro with them. They confused me every day so I figured I would ask. Everyone seems in agreement that they're ladies, which is good so we don't have to change their names! 😅😂 I appreciate it!
So we def think these are roos, right? Unsure labeled as Americauna from Tractor Supply, but we all know how that goes. I let my niece pick these. I'm leaning towards roos based on the neck feathers and saddle feathers the older they get. Combs starting to come in as well
That's what I feared as well. It was my first time buying from them. I saw heritage and assumed they were white Holland or Midget white based on coloring because the BBW poults seemed squattier and rounder, but as he grows, I do have my doubts he's a heritage. I'll love him all the same and...
Hi. So I have a poult that will be two months old this week and I bought him and another turkey (I believe she is a hen) when they were maybe 3 days old. Now to be fair, I bought them at tractor supply and they were sold as Heritage birds. My neighbor had a white Holland and I loved her so much...
Hey, guys. She didn't make it. Her entire right wing was necrotic and so was her foot and she had a spot on her chest as well. I guess the one on her chest affected her heart. Thank you all so much for your advice. I really hate what happened and wish I had found her sooner. She was the best...
Omg thank you so much for this!!! You're the best!! I really appreciate it! I definitely will. The only thing I don't have are antibiotics. Aren't they both with prescription now? The only thing I have is Ivermectin, but I don't think that will help with anything. Any idea how to get them? I...
Thank you for your reply! I appreciate it! I candled all three and didn't see anything inside. I haven't seen her in about a month so I'm assuming she went broody and has been on her nest since then. I'm grabbing everything i need right now while I'm out to treat her and hopefully get her back...
Hi. So I know about bumblefoot and how to treat it, but my neighbors had a turkey and she disappeared for a while and they moved. I guess they thought she died (she's free range and spends most of her time in my yard). Well I found her today in the woods on a nest. She only has 3 eggs and I...
